A well traveled NPC.

I did not post this in the Scripting section because Iam not asking help on how to make a npc or how to go about doing something npc/script related.

My topic was created to have a discussion on this well traveled npc that quite a few individuals claim as their own. Each of these npcs are an almost exact duplicate line for line. Only differences is the name of the functios and variables were changed, but are quite similar in meaning.

The NPC is a hat NPC currently on En of Ages. Sky showed it ETD and eric liked it so Sky let him use it. I saw the NPC and I was like wait a sec. I have seen this NPC before. I thought it was Providence. Providence is no longer around so i have no way of finding out.

Since I am a server hopper and visit nearly all playerworlds, private and public, I ran into a NPC with the same effect on EnigmaGraal. It was their wings NPC. Someone told me that the wings NPC has been there forever. I don't know if that is true because I have never spent a large portion of my time on EG.

A few days after this Sky told us he didn't make the hat npc and he added comments at the top saying the hat npc was made by him and Bhala. He said he did only the dropping part of the hat. Sky also said Bhala gave him full permission to use it wherever he likes.

All of this was months ago. I was very tempted to tell ETD to fire him since he hired him. I wouldn't fire him because for some reason in Graal when you fire someone's friend they tend to get there job back right away. So I didn't waste my time.

Now here is something funny.

Recently this guy named Rance Vicious sent in a npcfor his tryout. The npc he sent was a hat NPC. This NPC looked familiar. VERY FAMILIAR.
By golly it was pretty much the same hat npc. It was scripted the same way and almost an exact duplicate line for line. :/

Rance claims that SkyBlazer (Gambet) helped him to make this NPC and that it is not stolen. I talked with other EoA staff about this. Every individual I spoke to said I should hire him and give him some projects to do and then we will see from there.

At this point I'm pretty much sick of this. There is 1 other scripter here that I talked to ETD about that I feel is stealing scripts and claiming as his (Capn) own. Then the thing with Sky is a bit awkward in my opinion. Niether of these guys have done more than a handful of npcs in the 5 months or whatever they have been with us. So right now I'm pretty fed up with them.
Now they want me to hire this other dude.
I asked the guy to make me a new npc. On his NAT app he said he's good at making menus for shops, so i asked him to show me an example, and then he insists on upping the Hat npc to prove himself. X.x

Now my question is what do YOU ALL know about this NPC. I am sure many people have seen this one already. I would like to know who made it and everything.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post full scripts here. If it is I will, other than that I will only show in PM.

The so-called "npc" was made for graal2001 (aka bomy moon). I'm not sure who made it, I think Stefan did... but eventually, most of 2k1's scripts got leaked, and the hat npc has pretty much been found on every server.

If I do remember correctly, Stefan once said all scripts and graphic's used on 2k1 can be used on other server's?

All to a point. The new stuff we make is a no-no.

This falls into the acceptable ones - that hat-npc is public domain.

I have no idea who rance visious is, but i certainly didnt have anything to do with this natty-do. Besides, i have quit graal now, i just posted my goodbye post and i just decided to check our the rest of the forum before i left and my eye came on to this. I dont know what the whole thing is with this, but i just say delete the npc and make sure no one else uses it.

#1. I was waiting for you to fire Sky :/ I honestly just fired him, before reading this post... so he's gone now. I fired him for reasons besides stealing the script.. I thought that if you felt that he stole a script, you'd have fired him, you had every right to. Either way, he doesn;t work for EoA anymore.

#2. Capn hasn't worked for EoA in like 2 or 3 weeks now... so don't get so upset

if you checked the staff list on the site, you'd have seen he's not there.

We don;t want to push you to hire people you do not feel deserve the job... we are just eager to get new staff, sorry if that seems like we're pushing. I would have fired Sky a month or so ago... but I felt it was your job, and I didn't want to make it seem like I was trying to do things behind your back... I even felt bad for firing him earlier, but now that I see you wanted him gone anyways, I don't feel too bad anymore. Me and Sky may be friends, but that doesn't mean he gets any special rights, or privlages.

The one on EoA doesn't even work correctly. The other one works, but it obviously isn't that guys own work.
I don't work on EoA anymore. It is their own problem now.

Well, sky takes scripts from every server he works on and puts it on others, and i know that personally because ive worked on over 20 servers as nat (or nat admin), i was never a fan of sky, from what it seems, it seems this kid cant script at all. Scripting isnt impossible or hard, stefan, jagen and unixmad practically give u the scripts, they have inputted all scripts, they even tell you how to use each and what each do, now just like in puzzels, put the pieces together and you got urself a script.

I think you're refering to the scripting commands as 'puzzle pieces'. Well, normally when you get a jigsaw puzzle, it doesn't come with extra pieces you dont need, and it usually has a picture on the box showing exactly what the final outcome should look like... And last time I checked, puzzle pieces can only fit into a puzzle four different ways, (up down left right), they dont have a giant ammount of variable possiblities.
