Rudora is released!

It's about time! Rudora is FINALLY back out, under the 3-way management of GrowlZ, Kiirar, and Kain. In my eyes, Rudora seems not too have changed too much, but that's good, I like the classic-style playerworlds. It seemed unrecognized today that, only reaching around 35 players. You guys should stop by some time, it's a nice server and it's always improving. Also, I'm sure the server will be swamped with "R U HIR1NGZ?" messages, so, I'd just like to mention that the only staff that will be hired as of now is an Events Admin (application deadline tomorrow, contact Kain) and shortly after Events Team members will be hired. So go check out Rudora, and have fun!

Agreed. It's also glitchy as crap. I went to use the hat npc and I couldn't figure out how to make it go away, so it was stuck there even when I changed weapons. :|

This really isn't blowing my mind with innovative gameplay and design...

People dont get it that noone wants to play 'PK Based' servers. If they feel like doing it, they will go to UN, Delteria, Babylon, etc.
We have enough, be creative.

Yeah, it didn't get a huge server-jump when it was released, it peaked at about 35 people. The should have reset accounts before starting and fixed quests. Tons if people have level 3 shield, level 2 sword, and 5 hearts from when it was online some time back, and it is annoying. :o

It sounds to me like the rushed release with out adding any real content or making sure all the bugs where fixed. You would think they would have realized that when they had a low player count before it was dropped that it needed something to make people actually want to play there.

Right now I cannot see ANYTHING that would constitute as something that was a major change. And they were down forever, ack.

I played for 10 minutes and never wanted to go back. The GUI sucks and the levels are drawn out and boring...Plus, there's JOBS...I hate pointless button mashing. If I wanted to work, I'd go to work and make REAL money.

Please don't take any offense to this, but I really just did not like it that much.. It reminded me of UN to the nth degree.

The GUI...does suck. Shift+8 fixes that, though. The GUI looks like something you'd see on a miniature Era, not very Rudora-like at all.

Okay, time to respond to a few of these messages.

The GUI takes skins. If you don't like how it looks, edit one of the files, rename it, and put it in /webgifs. You can submit it for other people to use if you want. I believe the speech command is /setstatusskin skin_whatever.png. And as Thallen pointed out, either Shift+8 or Keypad * disables it if you really hate it.

We've been up in private for a while, as you know. However, staff running around making new things doesn't find bugs. (We're so used to many of the systems that we use them without a second thought, but now we see that they're not the most user-friendly.) Opening up lets players actually use the thing to find out what needs improved and changed. The server has a built in bug reporter so you can tell us about what you find: this is both sent to RC and saved to /logs/bugreport.txt, so we're going to find out about it.

All accounts that log on for the first time since our opening are reset, to make things fairer for those of you who've just started. At the time of writing 270 people have been reset. Whilst we should have thought of this on launch, we didn't, but it's here now.

Whilst we get bugs reported and sorted, we're also developing community: guild systems are up and working, with guild manager NPCs letting players take care of their own. Events people are being hired to look after people whilst the overworld is repaired.

Drones have been developed to seal off anything that needs sealed off. They can even be programmed in a similar manner to Graal2001's bomy pets, and set to leave messages, tag people, warp you out, keep you in, manage temporary shops, et cetera. Of course, if nobody uses them then they're not much good, so the NPCServer hands out staff tools to all registered staff members. Usage is logged, so we can see if people use them to excess, or if they don't use them when it would be useful.

Anyhoo. Quick update. I need to get back to helping people, answering several hundred PMs, and making the systems work again. Post here if you have comments, complaints etc. as you seem to be doing.

I hate that GUI, it seems like somethign a gang on Era would have. There arent any good quests, the staff doesnt answer any questions, there arent any FAQ's to help, the levels are tile-errored,there are alot of bugs, and I really cant see what they edited/added prior to this release.

Read, you can disable the GUI, or you can reskin it.

The staff may not answer questions because we get flooded with PMs all asking the same things.
We can't respond to them all and fix the bugs.

Simple answer:

Put answers to frequently asked questions in a message sent by the NPC server.

Since our NPCServer is built with partial interactibility via PM, we could even make it so that it analyses your message and sends you any data it thinks could be relevant. This was actually one of our multitude of ideas - the Virtual FAQ - but the database would have to be updated a lot for it to be any good. Still, it might be worth a try.
