Vertigo: A world like never before..

Turn your idea of graal upsidedown... Or more accuratly, sidways.

After a weeks worth of work we've decided to make our selves known. Vertigo a server like never before.

I originally had this idea about a year ago when I first saw Shadow Knights jumping script and now a year or so later the dream is becomming a reality. I'm not releasing alot of the details yet just that we are well on our way and hope to be nearly ready for launch in about 6 months. (nearly but quite possibly not fully)

Currently we have 2 openings.

NAT- must know serverside scripting and be able to hold your own against some one like Kaimetsu. (or if you are kaimetsu that would be double great *hint hint*)

Web Master- Must know either Flash or Java coding.

Other positions are closed how ever if some one that might be referred to as uber in skill wants to try out for a position we more than likely wont turn them away.

Remember this is only a weeks worth of works so the graphics are still a little buggy (such as squares not matching up exactly) we're working on fixing these things as we are currently in our alpha stages.

So you all can catch a glimpse of whats in store we will be releasing two screen shots.

addon: Also I just remembered I would like to extend a great thanks to Kaimetsu for some of his suggestions i.e. The grappling hook.

This next one is just a test level so ignore the messed up tiles its there to test jumping and other scripts.. so forth and so on.

Also for the previous screen shot for the people I know will complain. The reason it goes from flat to bumpy behind the house is its the edge of a forest. So plese dont complain about it being a tile error. Thanks

We thought about doing that actually with the overworld and what not but didnt want people complaining that we stole the idea from Val, so we decided to go a different route. The whole reason we're doing this is we're trying to be a 100% original.

Cant be 100% original, the idea has been used before, nothing will ever bee 100% opriginal, not since some caveman invented fire.

We had the same concerns and are taking steps to prevent this. If all goes well it should be fairly community friendly.

I can certainly understand the worry it definatly had us stumped at first.

I didnt mean literally only a generalization in being very original. But its a 100% original in that no one has ever tried to make it into a server. Yes the jumping its self has been done before.

Fire wasnt original it was already around.

Idea:
Make it possible to jump, and make it so you can TRAIN/work out to achieve better leg muscles, with the better muscles you can jmup higher, the max jump height would be on top of a player.. so you could jump over them :O

Already have plans for that.

Also if some one could tell me the code to make images appear as a sig I would be much obliged.

Yesh, I made that tileset.... and the hook... I can't wait to play. The gameplay will be good, and the fighting... oooh. Can't wait.

You base these assumptions on what? The only thing I can see that might make some one think this is that the majority of the servers maloria included are made up primarily of just staff that play it.

But if you're basing your opinions on the grounds that you dont like it so more than likely no one else is going to then thats seems a little ignorant to me. I dont like un but it has over a 100 players on average. But by the rationale of I dont like it so no one else would it should only be the staff playing it.

Or perhaps I'm mistaken? If you have some concrete evidence of this I would appreciate knowing it so I can try to accomidate for it. As it is I've gotten almost nothing but positive responses from various people (even random that I dont know) about it and what they think. I can so far count on one hand how many people I've heard mention that they dont like it. But like I said perhaps I"m missing something and would appreciate being let in on the loop so we can try to meet the problem head on.

Bleh, someone should make a sidescrolling fighter game, like streetfighter. The overworld would be viewed from far away like chrono trigger overworld movement, and you could go to different places and train and fight people and stuffs.

This just seems like a really badly done idea. The graphics are subpar, even if you're going for cartoony, they aren't that good. Not a lot of apparent change from the already done side-scrolling scripting in minigames and quests already seen on Graal.

LOL, if anyone has ever played that sidescrolling event on maloria, the battling is terrible, it's so lame it makes me want to cry.

We need a playerworld with gameplay like streetfighter, or a beatemup like double dragon.

The graphics are only a few days old as I previously stated and are still being worked on. Yes I agree with you on the current side scrolling games not being that fun. But this isnt going to be like any other side scrolling minigame. As it is the whole focus of the server everything will be made to enhance the entertainment and quality of it. So rather than have a couple of people put a bit of effort into it as a miniquest. We have the entire staff system and resources to make it fun. But we're not currently going into details on the battle system or any other material for the server because if I released all the information now I would have nothing to show later.

This GFX are alright, but I think most should be redone..

Also it should be more fighting game-ish, so you can walk up and down on the grass o.O

I say:
1. Yeah, you should be able to walk up and down on the grass, like Little Fighter (If you haven't played it, don't ask.)
2. Maybe there should be an overworld to get around to places easier, and then the sidescrolling parts are all of the places that AREN'T the small, topview overworld.

Yea, a sidescrolling one would be better cause it's more of a angle then just looking at the side. Did anyone ever play Golden Axe for Sega Genesis? That game was beasty

I would also suggest checking out the SNES Goemon game. Being able to walk up into other levels, etc.

Although, it seems that they want to only allow left and right movement. So it would be like a platformer, etc.

This makes absolutly no sense to me. Can you please explain what you're talking about? The walkers? Makes me think of my grandma's walker ;x

As to every one else. You dont know what we're doing. So if you want to assume its going to suck thats fine by me. If you want something else like a street fighter game then feel free to make it. Although playability wise and what not thats even worst than mario brothers as a multiplayer game. I mean 50 people trying to duel each other. x.x

There is more than just left or right movment. Because you can jump up and down. I'm not going to explain it all just yet but there will be flying contraptions and in some places area's you have to work to get up to. Example a city up in the trees. But as previously stated I'm not revealing everything because I dont feel like being most people and showing every one everything we have. I prefer to keep the vast majority of it a surprise. Also to the person who said use an overworld to move around on. We already thought of that and decided not to because people would either scream we ripped it from Val or we ripped it from zelda II. We have another idea which I'll let you guys speculate on how we're doing our overworld. Because it wont be one super long overworld. But I dont care to reveal how its being done at this point in time.

LOL, overworlds have been done on hundreds of RPGs. No one game can claim an overworld. That's like saying you can't make a sidescroller because it will be ripping Mario Bros.

Yes but that type of overworld is unique to Val no matter how poorly done it is. We would rather not listening to loads of mass messages from people crying about how we ripped off val so we've come up with an alternate form of an overworld.
