Regarding 2k1's current status.

Let's reset hats and money and etc. Make people start over. Make some new quests. Make some new events.

Why do I say a reset? Because it will make everything even. Plus, it's not like people will quit because of a reset - those that would, already have.

Doing that will make people come back, I think.

It's just...we have to do SOMETHING, because the lack of attention/activity is not helping at all, but instead hurting things.

The thing is, to keep people, we have to pay a lot of attention to it, and have frequent updates. If we don't do this, then people will come, do the new thing, and leave until another new thing comes again month(s) later.

I'll start working on a quest or an event. Haven't decided which one to make first.

Anyhow, I see a few things that need to be done. Jeff talks about "bringing back the golden age." Instead of that, we should be focused on something like "bringing about a NEW golden age". We can take some inspiration from the past, but as much as we'd like to relive it, it wont' happen.

Thing 1: We need to rearrange many items on the overworld. It's too crowded - Not a lot of room for new things.

Thing 2: Remove the half-finished projects that were never completed from the overworld. It looks horrible.

Thing 3: Develop new quests and events. With a cleaner overworld, we'll have places to put things.

Thing 4: Staff need to be more active. This includes me. I will be the first to admit I haven't been on as much lately as I was before. However, I'm going to start being online more, and being more active.

Thing 5: Once we gain more players, we need to work to keep them. This means continue the activity, release something new at least semi-frequently.

If we can accomplish these 5 things, the sleeping dragon that is Graal2k1 shall awaken, and perhaps even with a vengeance!

Oh, and we need to Change. The. Name.

K. Sure. Feel free to manually reset every account and go through and reset every flag on the server, etc.

Logical.

Sure, we can do things. I don't see any problem with that.

We can't make a new one either.

Then there's even less.

Activity in staff doesn't mean much. We had staff active all the time in the past and it didn't do anything to stem 2k1's downfall. Oh, and about the quests and events, by all means. Feel free.

We just can't give up on it...that's the thing. We have to TRY to do something, because the way we're doing it now isn't helping, either.

You think the overworld is crowded?! You never played on Classic, did you?
I was impressed about how empty the Graal2001 overworld is. I wish the Classic overworld would be as organized. (But it will never be).
Account resets? I doubt that will solve it.
The only things I currently don't like on Graal2001 are the new bodies and the few players.
I am maybe the only one who dislikes the bodies and I think the few players are caused by Graal Kingdoms.

Well, I've never used RC, but I imagine that such a reset tool would be similar to the playerlist.

There is no "list".

If you're referring to the accounts-db, you can't shift-anything it. It has to be done one by one.

Oh well, there probably isn't more then 10,000 accounts, and probably about 10 admins, that's 1000 accounts per admin, assuming that you can right-click to get a "reset" option in the accounts database, then it shouldn't take more then 2 seconds per account, so it would take less then 40 minutes to reset every account.

No. You have to search for accounts, to begin with, and then I have to give all of the staff reset rights (if we were to do that) and then you'd go through, say "A", then you'd have to go and search for "B", and then "C", and then "D", etc.

It would take about 10 seconds an account, anyways, and no one is going to stick around long enough to rest 1000 accounts, else we would have done that on our own much sooner.

we could just set a client variable after someone is reset.. to do it automatically -_-
(yes its possible, if a player logs in without the flag set, and they aren't in a serverflag queue of people who were just reset, they'd be reset, put into the queue, and the client var would be set the next time they logged on :x)

[edit]of course, its kind of a waste of rc typing space, because we wouldn't really be able to ever remove that script, because if someone doesn't play for a year or so and decides to come back on, nothing would have changed for them =\[/edit]

you people are 8 months late.

You should've been doing something while you actually had players to do things for.

Jeff made a NPC for Providence a while back that resets everyone when they log on. When they are reset, a flag is added so npcserver doesn't reset them. Simple. You don't need to do it one by one.

Now stop bickering.

Unixmad should make 2k1 a non-Graal Gold server and put it into private. There can then be a new team hired by Kamuii and Jeff who work on it.

I would say something, but then I'd be banned by unixmad. It's not offensive to him, but it's the truth.

Anyway, I can't come on 2k1 to see what everything is right now. (NGRT. Argh thread.)

Have Stefan do it, then. Someone ask Stefan to do it at least.

Correction to my thing:

Yeah. I know about the private server.

I'm talking about putting the server up right now onto regular servers so people can play it. It might help people want to reupgrade somehow.

I'm talking about work. Not idling on RC. New quests. The quest I was given by AlexH a while back was almost complete, then it was assigned to Brad. Brad left. He didn't work on it. I deleted mine. No new quest for 2k1. End of story. >_> It wouldn't be all that fun for me to play my own quest I've played 100 times already, anyway. But, it's not about me.

We discussed the non-Gold prospect with Stefan months ago. The answer was no.

Yes, we work, jerk. We just don't work when no one comes on to appreciate our work even AFTER we post. The general public does not CARE enough about 2k1, and the lack of support from the upper administration has killed it. End of story.

I'm not saying none of you work. I'm saying that the things that come on are just weird. o_O;; We need things like quests. Not new mines for a job. The economy is already ****ed.

I AM GOD. I AM UPPER UPPER ADMINISTRATION.

GO PLAY ON 2K1 OR YOU WILL ALL BE DAMNED!

Well that is true, it is only because we (This includes both staff AND players) allowed it to be killed, 2K1 doesn't need Stefan to come and script things for it. Anybody could be the next master scripter. Yes, Stefan had the 2K2 dungeon maker, but that doesn't mean that he's the only one who could of made the underground maze, it means that he's the only one who could of made it as fast as he could. Anybody is capable of becoming "skilled" enough to make things for 2K1 just as good as what Stefan made for it.

Other higher staff would be Unix, Koni, Nemesis and Lyndzey, I assume, and how did they contribute to the death of the server.

*interupts arguments*
WHat drove most people away was when people started worrying about the reset. We lost about 10-20 people because "they didn't want the economy to die". It's not only lack of work and stuff, it's also because players thought we were reseting them in a matter of 2 days, even though we told them we weren't. Call me an idiot, fine, but this also contributed to the death.

That didn't relate to that quote at all, but, you should play it because it's something different.
