There really should be a way for the king ot queen to send a copy of a single letter to everyone in the kingdom automatically. Why? Because that would add a actual use to the mail boxes. And secondly there is rarely any mail anyways.
Also, the chance of getting mail right now is very low, why not have it so that you can tell wether the mailbox has anything in it (ie. a different graphic) so that you don't have to check it every time.
