New ATM Released

We've released the new (rescripted and redesigned) ATM system on Era.

To use it, just go up and grab it. You don't need to use an ATM card (all accounts are automatically given a new bank account on login). The money you had in your ATM prior to the overhaul is still there.

Screenshots:

Tips:
  • You don't have to click the buttons, you can just type (probably faster)
  • You don't have to use a bank card (you lost it, anyway)
  • Balances automatically load on screens where they're needed
  • When withdrawing, you can press the up key to set the amount as the amount in your bank
  • When depositing, you can press the up key to set the amount as the amount you have on you

A huge thanks for Rufus and Dusty for the original layout/design of the new ATM.

If you notice any bugs, please remember to report them.

Even though you've added this, I really don't know why you didn't use the images [1] [2] that added variation and style. I thought the ATM image was the best part of what I originally posted, and I still do. On the other hand, I kind of like what the screen has turned into, and hopefully this will just be the start of adding specific interfaces as opposed to the general ones.

A few things:
  • I liked having a bank even if it's just filler, though it doesn't have to be as there are many functions to a bank. It is something you will find absolutely everywhere in a modern setting.
  • I also liked the bank cards because, although again it is kind of filler content, it added realism to the server in a way that isn't intrusive. I forget my bank card all of the time in real life and end up having to go home for it because I've got no money, it has importance and a relationship with ATMs. I'm sure people can relate to that.
  • The interface needs appropriate sounds to make it feel more engaging. Something for when it starts up, beeping when pressing buttons, alert sound when you've made an error or are pressing buttons that do nothing, etc.
  • I think background image would look better without Era Bank" in the corner. We already know where it's from because of the the title.
  • The error messages like "You don't have enough money on you!" should be on the ATM, not appearing in the corner of the screen when everything else is on the interface itself.

Those images are pretty ugly imo, and more importantly, they're very odd sizes (39x63, and 39x47 i think?). We cannot use them without having to visit every existing ATM to make sure the new graphic fits. The dimensions should be some multiple of 16 pixels so that they can be placed nicely in a level (preferably 32x48 like the current one).

I had someone remake an ATM to fit the new interface...just uploaded it.

They are the ATM images which were supposed to fit the interface And they work nicely. I already tried them a couple months ago. Nobody wanted the ATM system redone back then though.

You can't just replace an image that exists in nearly every level on the server with a completely different sized image (without having to go around repositioning it wherever it looks bad)

Like you can see in my post the ATM came in two forms, a wall mount, and a stand alone machine. The reason for this was to add some variation to the server, instead of having the same thing dotted around everywhere. The reason it deviated from the existing Era dimensions was because they were separated styles and look better when bigger. The transition would have been easy with just a little bit more of an effort in replacing the machines, really not that hard.

I think the one Dusty made is much more fitting than the futuristic ATM (circa 2150) you've used instead:
