RPG idea, please read

Ok, so this will be a bit harder to do. But I am currently working on an offline RPG. I am currently making a screen that tells you what all your stats are AND any abilities you have such as spells or something. I think I can script this, and Ill try. This isnt anything thats going online, right now Im planning on using it for an offline game, although that would give people these scripts, which they could steal, but here is what I need:
A HP/MP bar (HP is numbers W/ a health bar, and MP is the same, and it is on the screen replacing where the players hearts go. But here is my main question.
I have a script that puts a menu on the screen (its supposed to be the bank script thats online on classic, which is very unique, but this is a similar script) but I want to know how I can put the HP/MP bar on the screen and make it so you dont freeze when its on the screen. I couldnt find the part of the script that freezes you. Please help. If you dont get this just reply back and Ill try to explain it, but I am on a tight schedule right now and I dont have much time. Do if you can help, reply.
