about signatures

Do most people make there signatures BMP's GIF's or JPG's? cuz i keep trying to make mine a jpg and the coloring goes all retarded once i copy it and paste the character onto a transparent background

once i save it as png can i put it up on a website like that or do i have to change it to a diff format afterwards
