Overfixing things?

I admit that Tig's new gold graphics weren't perfect, but damn they were good. Made me want to mine for gold again because they were so shiny and pretty.

But I log on today and they look crappy again. Not the old bland like they were but now with all the black they're horrible! True the glow is real nice and all but I think this is a good example of over-fixing.

They were still a hell of a lot better then the old ones but I don't think we should try to fight for a super-good job right now. Just might end up overfixing it like that.

Who thinks we should bring back those really nice yellow and orange shaded gold nuggets? If not i'll have to throw all mine out.

EDIT: Turns out Tig did the first ones, Stephen did the others. Oops.

Well, I've done public votes in mass message over all of the new graphics I've been adding over the past few days and they are uploaded based on whichever one is voted the highest.

Grrr... the server chose #2.

*Throws all of his gold out onto his lawn.*

You love those rocks so much? Then come and get those ugly things out of my lawn!

And expect my threatened vengeance in MMT tomorrow.

The new gold graphics are good. They also didn't match the style of GK. No matter how "good" a graphic is, you can't have it be the only graphic of that style among a ton of other graphics of another style. It's not really going to affect the server one way or the other though.

I agree, and I apologize for only being able to provide trivial updates at the moment.

Honestly, I'd go with the ones that are closer to GK's style. Bending to every player's tastes is impossible and impractical.

Yeah, things aren't going to be perfect right away. I think of it like polishing. You start with 60 grit which is a really rough polish... then move on to 120, then 220... etc. Eventually you wind up at 1200 which is usually more then enough for most home applications. It's nice and shinyyy....

I do think these "trivial" updates might be a good shiny polish that will help freshen things up a little in GK. I admit that things probably won't be wonderfully great for a few 'grades' of polish but my complaint is that we DID have something that looked nice. And then switching the gold nuggets yet again seemed sort of a bad swipe with the sanding paper that leaves crosscut polishing lines. That's just opinion though. I believe that Tig's first gold nuggets were closer to GK's newer graphics and they weren't overshadowed with too much black. I swear I'd rather have the old gold nugget graphics back over those.

We will be re-doing a lot of graphics on GK over the next while. I will keep your preferences in mind.
