Would you like...

a server based on transition instead of a static era?
Just kind of a survey/curious question.

Just wondering if people prefer a server that remains in one era over their time, whether it's medieval, present, or future and so on... Or would it be more fun to have a server that starts in one era and slowly transitions to the next era, like the world has changed? Such as starting with something primitive, then have weaponry and settings change a little, then having those changes catch on with the surroundings and change, much like our world has.

The thing is, if you were to do a transition server - the age would continue for an eternity. New graphics would have to be made like all the time, and eventually you will run out of ideas on how advanced to make it.

Would work if the server ran in "eras" of 3x - 6x IRL months that represent the time span of 3 millenniums.

The top 3 players of each "era" would be awarded with special items and/or get to start the new "era" with more items.

That's the point, to keep the age going. Of course the time would have to be a bit slow as to not go to another era in a week, but not too slow as to get stuck with one era as though it's what the server is about.

Ya, graphics and production would be a problem, but what server doesn't need new graphics?

But anyways, was really just a survey kind of thing, I definitely never thought of developing such a server.
EDIT: oh ya, and the key to a success of this type of server would be planning ahead. If it was planned in detail ahead of what would change and so on and not 'thinking as we go' kind of thing, it would be possible. Could make things beforehand and release them when wanted.
