I stood to the starboard side of the Pirates throne, and uttered the now familiar incantation to open the Hall of Treasures behind the throne room. These words had been passed down from Pirate leader to leader over the ages, and the privelage of speaking them once more made my heart race with pride for my kingdom. I bowed my head in respect for the past leaders and fallen heroes, whose memories and relics still lingered in this hall. In one chest, I knew there would be a tattered sail, scrolls and a sword from Ghost Pirate himself. In another, a sash of clarity from Governess Misty Di and a Sigil of Thunder from Commander Athealis. There were monkey sandals from Governor Kerith, a mangan blade from Iscariot, a gold cross from Morwinyon, a trident from Arius and chests full of other treasures, each of which brought a chapter of CP history to my mind. This would be a good day, a proud day. Everything in the room had to be moved in preparation for the upcoming CP castle renovation project, but more importantly each item of history had to be taken care of, preserved and protected.
As I crossed into the dimly lit corridor, I began loading the chests that would need to be moved into the mining cart. However, when I got to the oldest chest in the corner, I lifted it only to find that the bottom had rusted out and there sitting on the ground were the artifacts from Ghost Pirate. I had never handled the items, so I was cautious as I lifted each one, trying to be careful not to destroy a part of CP history that a future leader would never get to see if I was not careful. However, as I picked up the scroll, the wax seal on it cracked and before I could set it down the scroll unfolded. To my amazement, the words were still legible. When I saw the scrawled signature of Ghost Pirate at the bottom, along with King Chris of Forest (both signed in blood) I knew I had discovered a scroll not seen by human eyes for many years and my hands shook at the thrill of such a discovery and what it might mean. As I read, it became apparent that there had been some terrible threat to the kingdom of Forest, to which Ghost Pirate and CP has responded with great naval might, enabling Forest to survive and defeat an overpowering enemy from the west. This scroll was a letter of thanks to Ghost Pirate from Forest, and it described a token payment of land to the kingdom of Crescent Pirates for great friendship and service. The scroll claimed that a plot of land on Southeast Forest had been granted to Ghost Pirate and his descendants, to build upon and improve. It was intended to be a base for future CP naval supplies, in support of Forest should the need again arise, and a place where CP and Forest members might gather and recount past battles and renew friendships. The letter claimed that clues were buried on the island, which would lead those who wished to carry out this order to the exact plot of land.
As I put the scroll in the cart and heaved to the handles, my mind raced with the work to be done and the names of the trusted Pirates who would help me carry out this opportunity to establish a CP base on the homeland of our allies. As I closed the door to the Hall of Treasures, I wondered who would answer the call.
((we will meet on CP about 11:00am pacific time on Saturday 1/27 to sail for Forest, where we will locate the land, get a house flag approved by Forest leaders (who are in agreement with the plan and location). We'll build the first house, hold a contest for the name of the city/base, and then party with rum and victuals. Of course, there's likely to be some sea fightin' along the way as well, so be prepared. Forest members are welcome and encouraged to participate, as part of the goal of this event is to promote inter-kingdom activity and friendships. There will be a few good prizes for CP participants)) |
