The sun had begun to set on the surface of the largest known island on the planet of Graal. And it appeared to be a moonless night. No shred of light would be found in the sky this night. And this told of the arrival of the Shadow God, the one that is immersed in darkness.
-------------Prelogue--------------------------------
For many millenia, the position was vacant, due to a great war between the god of Shadow and the god of Light. They had their own immense armies, and each had one half of the planet. The great battle happened on the main large island in between the two sides, a battle which has long been forgotten. For nine thousand years the people of Graal had lived with little turbulance in their lives, except of course, the collision of the Bomy Moon to the planet. That was a small skirmish, however, in comparison to the war of Dark and Light. The ancient war involved gods of all sides, and one would be hard pressed to find a god that wasnt involved in some way on either side of the lines. This great battle was fought millenia ago, however. And the memories and evidence of those times hard disappeared.
But one man had stumbled across some evidence of this battle many years ago.
This man seemed to appear from nowhere, washing ashore on the beach of the main island. He was quickly recruited into the services of the nation of Zormite, where Zen Archigos ruled. He served the great Zormite Republic with great pride, and through his hard work he was greatly rewarded. He learned to fight, defend himself. And he eventually took up command of the Zormite Army and led the defense of the nation against the pirates whom invaded with Ghost Pirate leading. The pirates were driven back with the help of a great fighter known as Huang Di, whom nobody remembers now. And with the pirates at bay, the man rose up to become the Zormite Strategus, commander of all armed forces.
But absolute power corrupts even the most lawful of men, and the strategus invaded the nation of Samurai out of a desire to conquer. He and his army was victorious, they had managed to cripple Samurai in a battle that would be felt to this day in losses of power. A coalition of nations demanded the withdrawal of Zormite forces from Samurai lands, and the strategus had no choice but to accept. He had also went to war without the authority of Zen Archigos, and was stripped of his rank and banished from Zormite. At the last seeing of Zen Archigos, he expressed remorse at relieving the strategus, but was forced to make the decision due to his actions against a neutral nation.
The man had become a wanderer after that. He was forced to take up arms with other nations, and through that he became a seasoned warrior and commander. In time he gained the respect of many, and was able to create his own personal military force that rivaled all nations. He was feared, and he fed on that fear and became a darker person. He in time abandoned his god, govannon, and made the long walk to Bile, lord of the undead. Though he was still flesh, he became cold, dark, and angry. And with it he also gained more power lust. He wanted to not only defeat one nation, he wanted to defeat every nation of the face of Graal.
It was then that he discovered an old metal box, it was enchanted to preserve through the harsh weathers. The man opened it, and changed the course of his existance forever. He had found old tomes that wrote of ancient times of the battle between Dark and Light. Between the shadow god, and the god of light. And also came across instructions on a ritual to ascend to the high place of Shadow God. He then made his mission to complete the ritual, and gain the power to destroy all of the nations of graal at one time so that he may rule over all.

The sun had begun to set on the surface of the largest known island on the planet of Graal. And it appeared to be a moonless night. No shred of light would be found in the sky this night. And this told of the arrival of the Shadow God, the one that is immersed in darkness.
This island had become home to most of the residents of the planet, with the capital of Bomboria being epicenter of all commerce. The nations on the outer waters away from the main island were all but becoming dust and ash. Failing leaders, strong alliances, and extended peace had taken their toll on each nation. At this time there were two powers, Dustari lead by King Johnathan Tiberius, and Crescant Pirates lead by Governor Alan Steele, Zormite was ruled by a new leader named Drakeero. And the man known as Bosh, the old strategus, and the man who discovered the enchanted box, had taken the name of Tiberius. He was a resident of Dustari where his long time friend, Johnathan, was King. It allowed him to work under the cover of his nation, without the prying eyes of the many nations that tried to scry on him.
Today, however, was not a day of hiding in the great Dustarian castle. A large convoy of ships quickly left the harbor underneath the castle and began to head east, to the central large island. One ship, the H.M.S. Apocalypse, was Bosh's personal flagship, and it was sorrounded by escort ships, armed to the brim with cannon and ammo. It amazed the old strategus that these ships were even moving, but his magic had always been strong, and the boyancy increase, along with a strong generated wind had made them move as fast as a hydrofoil. All of the ships flew the flag of Dustari high and proud. Their nationality would protect them from any enemies of Bosh that would be waiting to destroy him and prevent any of his plans to become realized.
The ships reached the main island quickly, and any persuers were left with at least an hour to catch up to the fleet. They anchored in shallow water and sent out rowboats to carry heavily armed troops and Bosh to the island. Once they reached the shore, the fleet pulled anchor and set up a patrol around the area to search and destroy any suspicious ships. Their orders were, if they destroyed a national ship, easily going to provoke a war. But Bosh knew that by the time their beaurocracies had done anything about the incident, he would be breaking down their doors to kill them anyway.
The army quickly formed ranks and marched with Bosh to a mountain nearby, a small blasting team cleared a cave-in that opened the mouth of the large cave. The troops descended into the tunnel in 2s, Bosh leading the way. He had put up many detection spells to avoid any ambushes that may happen, but there was no need except for the True Seeing. They found the great door several hours later, opening it, only Bosh entered.
As soon as the doors closed, the room was lit up by magical crystals that were likely over nine thousand years old. The entire mountain was a carved out metropolice from top to bottom. The chamber Bosh was in was a private chamber, and only the passage in one of his tomes opened it. He was standing in a chamber the author of the tome was standing in nine thousand years ago, and it nearly took his breath away to be aware of the time span from the two posessors of the tome.
But where the author failed, Bosh would suceed. Bosh was going to become the Shadow God even if it killed him... especially if it killed him. The process to ascension would require him to kill himself, destroying his mortal form, and forming him new as a pure soul form. But all of that was just a gamble, if this was just a ploy to get someone to sacrafice themself, he would be doomed to that fate. But he was taking the gamble, and he was confident to win.
It took nearly an hour to set up the room, it seemed the previous person here did not come back to prepare for the ritual, and was probably hung or burned at the stake on the way back. Bosh shook off the thought of that man's fate, grinning at the thought that the author would now have his ritual be used.
Bosh took his blade from it's sheath, its dark flame burned greatly, dimming the lights in the room.It most likely was absorbing the light, devouring it and consuming it to become darker than it already was. This was the Darkflame sword, but not just a regular one, this was the origional product of darkness. Through years of existance the Darkflame had become copied by a group of powerful shadow mages, but they never managed to come close to empowering the copies with the true power of the Darkflame sword, and so the origional was now in the posession of Bosh Tiberius.
Bosh then layed the sword in its place in the ritual circle, and it did nothing. This diddnt surprise Bosh, he knew that it would be some time before the soul he needed would return to the blade. It could take days, but Bosh had ordered the soldiers to this mission for an expected month, so they would not get suspicious for quite some time. For now, however, he was forced to wait. |
