Way into Castles

There needs to be someway for opposing armys to get into castles during wartime.

Such as a certain wall being able to be broken down like a normal fortification, but much much stronger. Or something to that effect.

Otherwise you're going to have people just constantly hiding inside of the castle because without it they are demolished.

I agree. Destructable sections of the castle would be a good idea.
Actually, an even better one would be to allow players to construct forts using such things; thus, an opposing army could then build one on the enemy kingdom's soil and use that as a base of operation.

Mages can phase though walls and cast dimension doors to act as a gate... oh wait... NO THEY CAN'T.

I like this idea. But it should be able to be used only by the person, owner of the ladder. Would be nice if defenders on the castle wall can shot them with arrows or pour them off with hot oil
