Well, this event occurred as planned and was a big success, even though Forest didn't show up (except for Admiral Dark Steele, kudos to him). The CP members were primed and ready to go, on their boats with all crews reporting loaded and ready at 5 minutes before the scheduled start time, as usual (thanks mates!). Since there was no Forest team to swap lead with, we went looking for opponents. Mech, Solstice and a few others were kind enough to get a team together and challenge us (thanks guys). Round 1 went pretty quickly, with Commodore Chris capturing Mech within the first minute. (This was a capture the king game where the opposing force tried to board my boat while we tried to capture their king, Mech). Round 2 took a bit longer, since AJ was on the scene and managed to avoid a couple of boats and make a run at me, but he never got within visual range before he was taken out by Maroku, Paul, Cid, Fayt, Felix and the rest of the Governer's Guard. Chris and Captain Eric again captured Mech again during the fray. Now things really got interesting, since for round 3 we opened it up to the whole server - I massed out that anyone who could board my boat would get 10 diamonds. Some of the other Pirates were confident and sweetened the pot, so they massed out additional offers, and the prize for boarding my boat would be 32 diamonds! This got us some good action, with about 10 boats heading down from Main to join in the fray. A couple of boats, driven by Jaquet and Solstice actually managed to get within range of the Governator ship, so that I had to fire and evade (finally!). But in the end they were all sunk, and nobody fulfilled the challenge and the 32 diamonds were not awarded. Mech, Jacquet and Soltice all got rewards for getting closest, and I thank them for their participation (Solstice, you still need to pick up your prize). Of course, the biggest thanks go to all the CP members who participated with a great attitude!
At this point, I have to tell a funny post event story. During the party and awards ceremony in the castle, I set down a RoC for one of the Pirates to pick up as a prize - which Cid proceeded to burn up with a Firebolt spell. Of course, he made it right by replacing it with one from his own stock (thanks Cid!) but he now has a legacy as the ring burning terror of Pirates Island, and the nickname Safe Trade Cid
Since he has been the model Pirate to date, this finally gives us something to kid him about!
