Computer Crash Bug
I just experienced the scariest Graal Bug I have ever seen. I recently became LAT Administrator on Classic, and I've been experimenting with showpoly scripts. The following happened using Graal v2.
Anyway, I went to my water quest level, "quest_water_18.nw" and I had just finished a class that uses showpolys so that you can only see in a circle around the player when the "*Lantern" weapon is on. At one point I turned on my "Massokre/Curse" weapon to "pretty lights 250," which was a developed screw-up of the prior NPC mentioned (but this is known to crash Graal v4, beware). I didn't keep it turned on for a very long time. When I warped out of the level to 30 30 overworld_03.nw, There was a piece of a colorful showpoly remaining in my screen. It didn't do anything to me, yet. Then I summoned back a player that I had brought to the quest level. Then I walked back and forth to see what was up with the showpoly slice. Like two seconds passed, my computer froze. Another two seconds, my monitor turned white. I unplugged my comp, displaced the battery, and rebooted. The problem did not return when I logged back on. I asked the player what had happened. He said he had turned on everything flashy. I asked him what that meant. He said "fireworks, poly trail, and lantern."
Perhaps that's what turned my entire screen white? I don't know.
I have a 1.86GHz Pentium M Processor, 512 MB RAM, Windows XP Pro,
1280 x 800 resolution, ATI Mobility Radeon X600, on a Dell Latitude D810 Notebook. |
