Writing Reviews: 101

Well, since ive done a couple of reviews which have been very well written, and i can tell that it was, because of all of the positive feedback. Ive decided to write a guide on pretty much how to write a review for a server. I really hope this helps out everyone.

NOTE: When i say reviews, i mean server reviews.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Table Of Contents

I. What server reviews are for
II. What your server review should contain
III. Addons

////////////////////////////////////////////

I. What server reviews are for

Server reviews are basically a summary of what your playerworld has to offer to it's players. It pretty much allows the readers to understand how the playerworld works and what things they have created for player entertainment. When you have written a review, a person is suppose to understand basically how the game play of the server will be and pretty much the plot of scheme of the playerworld. If your review is poor, then the readers will not really understand anything about your playerworld and they will be lost in a cycle of unanswered questions.

Remember: Reviews are VERY important!

Why are reviews important?, well, because if you write a poor review for your playerworld, then readers will think that the server doesnt have anything good to offer and that it would be a waste of time to play on that playerworld. So, the main point of reviews, is to summarize what your server has to offer to its players, its features, game play, events, and player-like activites. A well done review will result in positive feedback and even some people might be interested in checking out the server for themself.

DONT GIVE OUT FALSE INFORMATION IN YOUR REVIEWS!

False information is something you should avoid giving out at ALL TIMES. When you promise or say something to the players, they will EXPECT THAT FROM YOU. If you think that you cant provide the players with what you want to promise them, then DONT PROMISE THEM AT ALL. If you do, and you dont give them or provide them with what you promised, then they will be agitated, angered, annoyed, and will possibly leave the server and give negative remarks to there friends to not visit that playerworld.

WHEN WRITING REVIEWS STICK TO THE FACTS AND STICK TO WHAT THE PLAYERS MIGHT WANT TO KNOW!

II. What your server review should contain

Ill just make a list to make it easier for everyone to read and understand.

-Special features in the server
-Game Play
-Events
-A bit about the background/setting of the server
-Server type (I.E Classic Style, RP, Medievil, etc)
-A bit of what players can expect by playing on the server
-Special items/npc's
-Type of Quests

and anything else you think would be essential to catch viewers attentions. You can basically sum all of this up into a summary, and, with a bit of practice, you could easily create a fabulous review.

III. Addons

Add screenshots of the server in your review to make it stand out and catch the viewers eyes. Show a screenshot of the playerworlds map, so that players can see how big the server is and how many areas there are to explore. Include possibly some screenshots of someone using some neat npc's that players might like. Include screenshots of special events, maybe some prize rooms, and pretty much anything you think a player might be interested in.

Remember: Each server has something unique about it. Writing a review for your server is a good way to let people know all about the things that make your server unique or differinciate from other servers. I believe that each server should be able to show everyone what they have to offer and exactly what makes them unique and fun.

Important: Every server deserves a chance, you just need to give it one.

Well, that pretty much sums it all up. I really hope this helps you all.

Oh dear, please don't bring back the reviewing fad.

Edit:
Fine.
The tutorial is nice.

Edit part 2:
Since you requested comments, here we go.
Please stop writing tutorials, they annoy me.

Very well written...I think it is a good idea for each PW to do their own review, if it is layed out good, and not too long, it would be a good way to advertise their PW and to attract attention...judging by comments made on the forums, the screenshots are a must if a PW was to do a review, and the information should be nicely detailed

Gambet are you just trying to get the attention of globals for a potential run at a global position in the near future?

Sparky! That would sound positively 'insultive', if only it weren't a made-up word! Since there purportedly exist no shades of grey in your moderating philosophy, you should issue yourself a stern warning!

There are distinct differences between myself and our friend Gambet, whether or not you want to admit it. You may feel that I have a high opinion of myself, but I never overstate or overestimate my abilities as he did here. The kid needs to learn to school his ego, and a large part of that is learning that his efforts to impress people are having quite the opposite effect.

"lolz i cud say teh same ab0ut u!" Yeah, you could, and it'd be entirely consistent with your usual razor-sharp brand of repartee. But unless you have some evidence to bring to the table, your accusations won't be worth much more than the flimsy staff position you use to make yourself feel big. See what I mean?

Can a person possibly help out because he/she wanted to?

Im just trying to help out, which is what im doing. I write tutorials for a purpose, and thats to help out others with whatever problems or questions they had, to better skill others with whatever they may need, or to possibly make graal easier for the new players.

If i had a big "ego" then i would be saying that im the best, that i cant be defeated, that im the best coder on graal, etc. Clearly, i havnt said any of that. You all need to choose your words correctly, because if you want to flame me, atleast use a proper selection of words x.x

And this tutorial wasnt to help out new players only, it was to help out everyone.
