Ok, i have been thinking of some stuff with pets and a targeting system, so here goes!
There sould be a little move able "window" in the GUI, that when you clicked a player/item/monster it would show the name(account name for players?) and underneath there would be a "pet attack" botton, that when pressed would make your pets attack the target, also if you cast a spell on the target it would follow it (think magic bullet used with drag n' drop casting), this could also be used with alchemy(spell), also if you used a skill, like stealing, singing etc. it would target the selected creature.
To make the pet idea work even better, i suggest that there is put a limit on the amount of pets a player can controll, like 5 max, maybe more. They should follow the player like the escort npcs and like pets, this way pets (the ones gained from eggs) could be used to attack monsters, maybe there could even be added a exp system for the pet, the horse pets shouldn't be allowed to attack seeing the can be used for transport.
Also, how about a pet HP window, just a small area with place for about 5 pets, (more if the max is more ofcourse) this should also be moveable, the pet's name would stand on a HP bar to save space. Maybe players should even be able to heal their pets? Horse pets shouldn't be included in this area, because they wouldn't be able to fight. If all this is added pet fighting would be added also at the same time, this could even bring up new events, so think about it! :O
Edit: oh by the way, as suggested by some one else, difrent pets should have difrent attack types, like yoda pets could cast spells... |
