Since when were levels supposed to be straight, plain, and boring? Because this is news to me...

I concur. Jazz it up a bit..make the cliff not so straight everywhere, add those solid deep water tiles with the rocks tiles that goes over them, make the paths look kinda old and worn out and not so straight. Also, if I'm not mistaken, those square tile things are for inside floors, ne? Get rid of them, they don't look good outside along the pathway tiles like that.

One last thing, change the grass detailing. It looks like you made a square patch, copied and pasted, then put the pathways and houses over it. Not pretty, just do it by hand, more creative and fun that way

I like it. It's not overdone, easy to get through. And, I mean are towns really heavily detailed in real life guys? Maybe forest and all that but..

No, but levels shouldn't always be realistic. You have to balance realisim with... what's the word I'm looking for... excitment?... No.... Eyecandy? Well you know what I mean... The point is, this level makes me want to take a 16 hour long nap.

Eye Candy

The thing is he has no gfx to show off. Towns are always boring in real life, but many things make it complete. Signs, advertisements etc.

In Graal, you are never going to have a realistic server, besides why play a real life type server when you are already forced to live life.

Much more fun to have crazy things in towns, that make you go oo thats cool or ah that looks nice.

Unless you honestly are going for stright, clean and simple.

If its meant to be a classic styled level then yeah its fine, if not then no it needs some sugar and spice and everything nice.

Jaggedize the cliffs, maybe put some water spots on the ground, make up some cooler houses (predefs are very limited, make them stylish and unique if you can). Also make the stone path a little less uniform, generally such paths have dirt covering some stones. Also add some stuff into the water, make it maybe a few small islands or deeper water.

yea,I think you should add a little more detail and make the path a bit funky.

It is a bit straight forward and average and you can see the design you used to fill in the grass to well.
Try better clumping (Adding same tiles close together in some places and spread in others), and more tiles. Change the houses , unless this is a communist neighborhood most houses have unique features and look different. Make this version one and use it as a template for a better level. Other than that follow the tips above and it will look fine
