Change farming and food for kingdom reasons!

See, the only reason for kingdoms to wage war now is because

Someone scammed someone from another kingdom
Someone PKed someone from another kingdom
but what if there were more reasons? Farming is one thing that could add a reason. This is what should be done with farming and food;
 • Restoration and Create Food should be removed, or the requirement and grace cost should be higher
 • The penalty for being at 0 food should be higher
 • Monsters will drop less food, and body parts must grant less food.
 • Farming should take longer, perhaps a really long time-period like 2 hours
 • Certain 'spices' should be added, which give a food+ bonus
This would probably result into kingdom having some sort of farms. This add to RPing, and also to kingdom reasons. Some countries should be more or less furtile, and probably also have some foods which can't be planted there.

Why create food and monster droppings should be removed
Well, if we really want to boost RPing, these 'easy' methods of getting should be removed, because else it won't make much difference.

About spices:
Spices are like pepper and salt. Add them to your food, and you get like +20 food. Perhaps spiced food can also have a little change of curing some diseases. Certain spices, the oriental ones, should only be available from Samurai and Pirate islands, and the more herb-like spices from other kingdoms. This would be a good reason to trade with KJ, for example; spices.

I hope everybody realises what impact this could bring to the kingdoms' RPing, and to the overall of Graal. And i doubt it's very hard to implement.

I heard chicken's will be added. Now you can use their poo (because of lack of a better word) for better domestication. Also, if you slaughter a cow at the right moment and in the right way, you get meat, and you can also milk them! Not to forget sheeps which give you wool (remove some skin droppings, maybe?), and chickens for eggs.

I agree that a more sophisticated system would improve things on kingdoms, yet I think create food and restoration should remain. A new system would add more possibilities of rping, but a lack of other methods wouldn't make people rp - it would make it harder for newbies, specially if there were more severe diseases at food 0. Salt's already there, pepper would be okay, but there should be something against adding too much of it. There was something else I wanted to say but it escaped me °°

Yeah, stuff like that has to be done to make the Kingdoms economy based on mineable/growable resources - not resources dropped by monsters or event things.

The 2 hour time period for farming is a little insane though. No one would ever want to do that. Apple farming on g2k1 even took too long.

Go long-time farming! Have special trees or bushes to grow stuff on, over the course of days, say a week, planable (like the tree saying "my fruits will be ripe in x hours), with a period of 12 hours with it being in this state (framing the time it was planted). It would be nice...

What about the sustenance ammys that many people have? And then what about the stuff like RoEs that powerful players have?

But Satrek, newbies don't have create food or restoration, so if anything, they'd be less affected

That was only because you had to spend the whole hour watering them yourself, and towards the end of 2k1 they nuked it so you could only grow like 3 trees at a time, if you were lucky =/

Overall i think that farming ideas like these would be just one of the many things which would make GK leeto. Indeed, as thak said, natural resource dependancy should be more heavily emphasised...i don't really know how you could do it without pressuring people to be spending ALL their time mining and farming, but at least 30-50% of a person's playing time should be devoted to things such as raising their own farm, or digging in the mines, or out in a fleet of fishing boats, etc etc etc. Right now, most people are either out doing stacked brutals, or sitting in bomboria trading table shouting "***** LOOK A **** ON BMODE,LETS PWN HIM TO DEATH!1!!1!!!"

But you can help them using these spells

Anyway, my point is that if you add more possibilities to make food, you have more possibilities to rp. Removing some possibilities won't increase your ways of rping.

Aside from that, the amount of food that "Create Food" restores is pretty small per cast (since it was nerfed the last time) and "Restoration" is for one thing, a level 10 prayer, hard to find in stores, and takes over 100 grace to cast, granted that you manage to learn it when you buy it.
Also, the amount of food that each piece of food restores was reduced drastically the last time new food items (the cooking ones) were introduced. Remember when T-rex legs used to restore 450 food? Doesn't happen anymore.
I think the hunger system is fine as it is.

I agree. The farming system could use some expanding, though.

I don't agree, that will make it worse, more diseases, less food, and not being able to cook, how are you Rping without being able to cook, no chefs equals alot less food, I mean dont you think is hard enough that now fortifacations cant be destroyed by earth to dust, what happens if someone puts hundreds of fortifacations in the entrance of bombaria, dungeouns, the mine, andthe ferry(around the ferry), but still, it will make it alot easier to die,

P.S. Atleast Im a sorcerer so when I eat a poisonous worm and then die from another disease(I have a message saying "you casted a spell before the poison takes effect")I get 900 food.

Who's talking about making it impossible to cook? The point of this is to enhance the possibilities you have with cooker and breadstack, as far as I get it. And what do the chefs have to do with cooking?
As said before, you can roleplay cooking without actually cooking, and vice versa. But more possibilities to cook won't substract from your roleplaying possibilities.

I say the hunger system itself is fine as it is. I'm a level 9 character (8 and 7 in a few areas),a nd with my 7 or so wisdom, I can generate CORPSES with create food, that have no image, and only give me 10 food points.

I would stop playing if it became harder to get food. I rember in the old days of the server when you had to grow and cut your corn. I would spend about 70% of my time trying to keep myself dieing from hunger, 20% mining for mineals to hopefully make a living, and 10% exploring.

Having to cook, mine, and farm all the freaking time leaves no time for more fun rping, ie: political intreague.

I do think there should be more things to do.
I do not think it should be harder to do existing things.

Also, if you got rid of create food, and restoration, and make it take a crapload of time to get any food of any time, everyone would flock to get piety scroles and worship bile. I would actualy start collecting piety scroles now if I thought there was any chance of food being hard to come by.

kingdoms would literaly go into a dark age, because there would be famine, there would be alot of dissease, and what I'm asuming is an evil god would be worshiped by mostly everyone.

Personaly, I think they should expand on the existing cooking system, and make much more you can do with it. NOT make it harder to do.

I like all the ideas that you have!
It sure would add roleplay though, because if kingdoms do want spices to make their food better. And Samurai refuses, or makes the price higher, kingdoms might get angry. And try to start a war over food! (That would make graal more fun, and you would not only be fighting, but your fighting for food!)
I hope your ideas get added.

And who ever said to leave it as it is, I think restoration should be fixed, so that instead of healing everything. It just heals your hp,infections, and something else.

How would the presence of an item called herb add to roleplaying? You could rp such a thing right now already, even starting a war with another kingdom over that. Items can be based on roleplaying, but roleplaying shouldn't be based on items.

The thing is, if there were like spices, and such. Kingdoms would fight for them, so that they could have more food for their people. Yes we can RP right now, but would they? Some of them don't even have a brain, all they think of is pking and such.

Then what can roleplay be based on? There wouldn't be a better reason to roleplay a war.

reading through the idea there is one thing that really looks good:
certain kingdoms could produce certain spices to improve trading...
improving kingdom trading is _the_ idea to
1. bring RP back
2. make kingdoms more unique
3. give those who are in a kingdom advantages kingdomless pkers dont have

spices is great, but there should be even more goods only members of a kingdom can produce... (for examples mines, joineries, blackmiths, bakeries and what not where only members of that kingdom could gain/produce stuff that other kingdoms cant produce and use some of these goods to trade for other kingdoms "unique materials")
