Woo, corrupt Babylon.

They jailed me for massing out to come back and play UN, after UN was down due to technical problems. Wooo! I guess Babylon can't get their own playercount, so they have to make sure they keep the ones they gain due to an hour of downtime on the more popular servers. I'd give this to the GM, but since there isn't one I figure you guys can solve it.

I sincerely doubt it. And if you think that the majority of your would-be players are stupid, no wonder your playercount is so low on average.

To bring you more insight into what happened, im posting for T3CK so here you go
Quote:
Sent by T3CK
Special Message brought to you in part by T3CK:

Sup llamas. It's been a while since I've been "banned" on
these forums, but I am the one responsible for the jailing. I
massed out on RC a message saying that I was sick of the
players begging for people to come to their server (I would of
even jailed players saying to stay on Babylon), and it was
getting really annoyed. Vampiric was the only one who
continued to beg, so I jailed him. Spark came on, Projectshifter
backed me up all the way. Vampiric, you would be out, but
unfortunately, like a tool, you liked to Spark about what you did.
You told him that you just massed saying that UN is back up,
when the fact is, you massed begging players to come to UN.
Here is a mass...

VT (7/7/2003 3:15:20 PM):
Mass message:
UN is back. Come play.
VT (7/7/2003 3:07:45 PM):
Mass message:
Again, UN is back up and in working order.
VT (7/7/2003 3:06:50 PM):
Mass message:
UN is back.

Seems like begging to me.

You will be in for 3 days, and if you don't like it, well, too bad.
Now post a lame reply insulting me, I can't reply to it, just PM
me on the game if you want to talk about it.

Was there any profanity in this mass message?

The first message was asking. The other two were notifying...

Mass message:
Come play UN, we're back up.
Its more of a command than letting them know, well not only should you not have really done it, as its advertising, and nobdy wants to loose playercount, and it will be more vital in the future.

And as you said players went there after UN went funny for a period of time, but UN was gaiing players back quite quick, word would have got around in private PMs and not Masses, and if not, it would be almost back to normal the next day.

Servers go down, and some PWs get a bigger playercount, but it normally levels off after 1-2days. Advertising for the PW is not a good idea.

Never have I seen anywhere rules against advertising for playerworlds. Would that make people trying to hire for UC playerworlds also violating such a rule?

If eveyrone was jailed for saying something like that, there would be very little players that still played the game.

But yes, I totally agree that is not a way to conduct yourself.

I'd have done the same. One mass message I might let slide but for 3 message I would either put you in a no pm jail for a specified time period. Or if I didnt have one I would ban you for a specified time period. Which was done here. Now if it was something where you kept on at it I might make it longer. Such as you're doing on the forums now. Not to mention this kind of post is actually against the forums rules.

Common sense would tell you not to go on another server advertising competition. That's basically the same thing as advertising other mmorpgs on the forums. They're in direct competition with each other. So what if people are on that server for a while. If they really like un then you dont have to worry about anything and they'll be back in a couple of hours.

But all in all I would say the staff who ban jailed you for 3 days was well within his rights.

If they are mass advertising then yes, its one of those rules PWs can enforce, or let slide. Some dont mind it, while others will. So watch your back. Or just dont do it, as Dragin has said, I wouldnt walk into Asda [Like walmart] and advertise Tesco [Like Asda.. but better].

The guy is jailed for telling people to go back to UN? Wow.. whoever called that should be beat with a large stick. You can't jail someone for that. I dislike UN as much as the next guy but come on, jailing someone for just advertising is stupid.

Corruption (if you can call this that) cannot be posted on the forums.

I think he should have been warned after he massed out the first time, then jailed if he continued to mass out.

Not that I agree that he should have been jailed at all, it's the server's choice. He should have at least been warned though (I did not read every post, so I'm not sure if someone said this already)

to my knowledge he was not warned

but there was a mass that said if anyone advertises servers they will be jailed, if he was there for that or not, i dont know;
he wasnt personally warned though

He sent one mass message, telling everyone from UN that it was back online. No big deal. What we should be arguing over, is why yourself and Shavo keep making Manager tags for yourselves. Babylon needs a staff wipe, a TOTAL staff wipe, including the manager.

Actually its already been shown he massed it at least 3 seperate times. Of course if you would bother to read and comprehend you would realise this.

Don't try to change the subject to something that has no relevance to the topic.

Monday's must be a good day to be corrupt on Babylon. They give Lithe from Team Intelligence level 4 RC as Guild Admin, and look what happens. We're jailed because he's claiming something about goatse.cx, which I reguse to even go to.

You know that would actually be an awesome punishement. For people who like breaking rules and stuff have it so they cant puase or use weapons then make it so people can go in and just kill them as much as they want.

Talk about a punishment that would suck. Heck if people did something like that maybe people would think twice about breaking rules.

What do you mean TRY to make you look bad? You made yourself look bad. I didn't badmouth you, YOU pmed me, and you know how little tolerance I have for you. I didn't whine to Spark, I stated that I was unjustly jailed. I didn't say I'd get another global to do it, once again you manage to come off like a complete idiot by assuming that which is not true. I didn't accuse you of anything, you have a bad habbit of assuming the untrue. I didn't bother you, YOU pmed ME.

Also if you look at the screenshot, Lithe was asking you if you said something.

Alex, I noticed this, but several people are jailed in that screenshot, then it simply lead to the whole server being jailed. You should be on so much more often. The Head and Asst. Head Developer were abusing event text, using boots to PK, and Rufio (the Asst. Head Developer) made his own little control NPC in which most likely abusing with as we speak. I think there needs to be a staff wipe...

Well apparently she hasnt been approached to be GM, so will remain Accounts Admin, until otherwise announced or told to you by her.

And this is a Playerworld related problem, you can tell me, Houdini or Aftershock for now.

I believe that screenshot was taken while one of the players accounts password was stolen. They couldnt get on RC because of the ip range but the Control npc allowed them to jail everyone in the level. Control npcs will soon be removed. Also Lyndzey changed the staff's account password so the stolen password would no longer work.

Yes, it really helped telling you. All I found out that as long as money is payed, there is no restriction on conduct.

This is rediculous. UN has a wonderful playerbase. If the players like the server soo much, they would simply come back another time. You don't need to go on a different playerworld and bug them to come back.

There is an infrequently used solution to "bugging". It's called "ignoring".
