Imbalance of Classes for Newbies

As a newbie it concerned me alot what class i should choose. After a little bit of thought I went with Warrior. I ended up with Wood Lore skill so basically I was barbarian as well. However what happened next is fairly strange. If I started out as a Wizard I would get 3 spells, and I would already be in dungeuns leveling, but instead for next few days I was trying to get my self on feet. I ended up buying Talisman and a few spells to earn enough to get Prepare weapon and IWD. I think that this is a major glitch, because this "screws" Warriors and Barbarians.

Summary: Warriors are inefficient to start with.

This can be resolved by allowing Warriors to have a weapon from the start (Maybe some simple sword or something to that extent).

Thank you for Reading and I hope that teh issue will be addressed =).

I, too, started as a warrior. In the beginning I was mining, found (with a bunch of luck) a sword, killed bomys for the first 2 levels, later got myself a naginata, had it blessed to gov+2, and it wasn't till after 2-4 weeks of playing that I got myself a talisman and some spells - and woodlore, which I concider quite good a skill as it adds to your mental. Now I'm 8 in magic, 7 in mental, and 9 overall - I can't say that warrior was a bad start, and I didn't even have woodlore
Also, I didn't even touch an IWD in all my time, and don't see any need to waste my money on it when I can spend it on spells or prayers for my friends

Nah. You just need weaker enemies at the start, so warriors can fight to level 3 (preferably before they even reach Main).

Mages are strong until a certain point, where your spells don't do much damage to the enemies (unless you're a smart mage and exploit the weaknesses)
Warriors are strong from a certain point, around when you always or almost always hit the enemy successfully, and then can afford IWDs, diamonds, and PW scrolls.

Personally, I find the barbarian to be the best class. This is simply because there haven't been any class-only limitations, on weapons or anything.
This makes the barbarian, and everything else, able to learn and do virtually anything. The barb is best because though it doesn't start with literacy or piety or legardemain, it can learn it. Then there's the strength bonuses to keep the speed up, etc.

Actually according to Unix, it would be about 2%

% chance to learn = (base chance + (2 * level))/1.5
Base chance being wis/int depending on what kind of spell, level being that category of exp (wisdom/magic)

Warrior is best to start as i belive. I once played an alchemist (when i first played 2k2 on my friends accout he gave me) boy was that a mistake x.x

Alchemist are SOooooo underbalanced, and the least they coudl do is give you the spell and the skill, and let you be able to cast it from the start..or something but oh well

Magic users - strong in the beginning, weak later on.

Melee users - weak in the beginning, strong later on.

It's your choice, really.

Of course, it can be changed. I'm a magic user, and I'm rather powerful. So, I'm just speaking generally.
