Graalympuss?

I just noticed this playerworld, and, excuse my french but... What the hell is it? The levels are yucky, and it doesn't say what the hell I'm supposed to do, it looks like Graal Classic fused with crap.

And OH MY how ugly can levels get? Considering this is the GraalOnline server they could have done something nice. Its (from what I can see) Generatred levels. 2002 GFX. Ugly Detail. Eew.. damn those levels are nasty.

Its a server thats made just for where the games are being held? Its not suppose to look "OMG R0X MY S0X AND CALL ME HORNY!"

I am aware. Doesnt mean in the time they had, which was long, they couldnt have something more than a rightclick detail. I liked some bits to get to the central building like jumping along jules. However that should be the only way. As some guy just walked around the bits I was jumping in half the time. So that annoyed me.

We didn't really have all that time Spark..

Me, Tyhm and Angel are working hard to complete it and all.. i'm not at home so i can't be there yet.. i'll be there the 3rd.

Yeah, my bad. I levelgen'd the whole thing, then detailed it myself. And I'm a scripter, but lookit my team. I got myself, Angel who's an awesome scripter but always on another project, and Tyrial who's a good tiler...but considers himself a scripter and refuses to tile.

So be glad for what it is. I kept it simple on purpose.

Well I did PM you about 3 times in game on Debug, 2002 and some other PW. And after about 1/2 hour with no reply you had logged off

But I suppose it does what its supposed to do anyway =D

Post a screeny, when i log on it's all black with the server list on, O-yeh the server list is missing Rudora and Valikorilia

Errr!! Damnit excuse my language but that just pisses me off right there.. if you have bad levels is your fault! You never want to venture out and find good tilers to do a ****ing thing. You want to use the same staff over and over when there clearly not good enough for levels. Im not saying "you" as you Tyhm doing ti all the time but every Graal staffer for GraalOnline servers do it and you did it this time. You know how easy it would of been to go.."Graalympics are looking for a couple of level designers to make some nice levels for the Graal community when we hold the games.." BAM!!!! DONE! I would have to say I agree with Spanky on this one....Alot of GraalOnline staff hire and use the same people over and over on different GO worlds. A simple thread could of got you some good level makers tyhm. Cause I know all the good level makers of graal would instantly apply, come on its a change to work on positive project for the players. Oh well I guess that is yours all choice what you did. Truthfully Spanky should be a levels person for Graalonline. His levels are amazing from what I have seen. That is my opinion though. I bet others would agree to.

1st priority - security
2nd priority - done on time
3rd priority - also pretty

For security, I used the minimum staff. The less people who know how Sumo works, the less people who are going to tell their friends.
For time concerns, I did a lot of it myself, and usually all at once.
For it being pretty I decided to hell with that, I'd rather it works and be relatively hard for a single scriptkiddy to mess it up for everyone.

So it's not pretty. It's also the first one ever. Freaking cope.

How much did it cost to get this "playerworld" up? If it was free, it should be free for everyone else to make crappy olympic playerworlds.

I don't think people are going to have fun while they a puking from the disgusting site of ugly levels, your third priority is pretty, looks like ur leaving that priority out.

Hire atleast ONE person to do ur tileing, for some reason everyone always leaves the level makers out of the picture -.-

What does it matter if the levels look great or terrible. They're there to serve the purpose to hold the events, and from the looks of it, it's just fine.

The way something looks isn't everything, you know. You people really need to stop complaining about levels and just look at the good side.

Seriously though, levels play a huge role for a lot of people when playing on servers. Yes I understand it is for events, but its hard to concentrate on events when the levels don't look great. I think the graalympics is a great idea but I would expect it to look awesome. Oh well

I don't know truthfully, just depends on the levels if I pay that much attention to them. I think I am just b****ing cause there is nothing to do on there but stare at the levels as of right now. I prolly will think different once the action gets going.

I totally agree, to me, levels mean a LOT in turms of the amount of enjoyment i have on a server... If i visit a server, where the levels are bad, there are tile errors, and things like that, i spend so much time looking at the bad levels, i just can;t have fun on the server

this is mostly because I am a level maker, and the first thing i think of when seeing a level is to look for errors, and judge the over-all quality of it.

now, if i enter a server with good levels, then that leaves my mind to concentrate on other things, like quests, or events, or something

Tyhm said it himself, his third priority was to make it look nice, which you are not. You are representing graal with this server, you don't want it to look ugly.

it is a simple fact that, to many level makers, and even to some non-level makers, the quality of the levels DO play a big part in their enjoyment of a server. No matter how many petty jokes you make about this, or negative comments you make, we will still feel the same way, so instead of trying to make fun of us for how we feel, why not let us have our differences in opinion, and move on?

Take deep breaths. They're allowed to have an opposing opinion, particularly when they're right. It's ugly. Put up or shut up. I don't want to hear about it anymore, as there's nothing left to discuss - I can't hire a tiler at this point, considering it's already open and the events begin tomorrow, and nobody's contesting that the levels are less beautiful and representative of the best Graal has to offer than they could have been had I hired a team of 50 of Graal's best tilers (each of which would demand a seat in the events and tell all their friends how the NPCs work...)

Therefore, with nothing left to say, the thread is closed. Cope.
