Trying again

This is another post regarding the problems with combat. Kameru's post spawned the idea but I felt it deserved a post that wouldn't get locked. Anyways.....

I wouldn't mind 2k2 if the combat system didn't have so many problems:

1. not exactly a whole lot of variety in the monsters
2. this ties into 1.... the fact that you can't exactly progress very far in levels
3. resistances? problem here is we have way too many and normal armor does NOTHING for elemental attacks... which is stupid... elemental attacks are supposed to give bonus damage not make you feel naked unless you wear items specifically designed to block that elemental out of the 30 something possibilities(rough figure of the image of the resistances in my head... but I'm bad at those)
4. magic/weapon animation lengths and the lack of implentation of speed... I don't think I need to explain that one do I?
5. lack of potions available so warriors can heal without magic(most games give them a god awfull amount of the stuff)
6. I'm sorry but without meditation its just not fun trying to do a wizard... I have no time to wait for mp to recharge naturally thankyou very much. prayer should be made to work like I am suggesting meditation works... you halt movement for an increased rate of recharge.
7. exactly what benefit to play was food? other than providing another resource you need before you can do anything. I was against it from the begining and I still am.
8. everybody is doing godawfull useless side projects. If you honestly think ships will ever play an active role in war your nuts. totally nuts.

Somehow, I don't feel anyone will pay a dang bit of attention to my in depth analysis of the things which ironically most of which are based on the key complaints made on the bugs forum. Almost like theres resistance to countering bugs having to do with the game design. For those who didn't understand that, what I was trying to say was that these are obvious and important things that should be given high priorty in anyones mind. I don't understand why nobody else will see this. I guess thats why I quit Graal. Your moving in the direction of Furcadia.... a mud with a graphical interface(if you know what I'm talking about you should start immidiately puking unless your one of those people who like furries*shrudders*)-_-

BTW unless normal combat is fixed... how do you expect to handle cannons? Do you know what to expect when people get so high level the cannons can't faze them anymore? You plan on making different grades of cannon? Your not? I didn't think so. Nobody can progress very far in levels(point 2).

Does level even effect those things? If it doesn't and level is so unimportant to you why not just remove it from the game? I mean clearly ships are our #1 priority.

Clothes might be nice to increase the variety of images in the game but don't you think we should increase that in ratio to monsters? The bigger the monsters are we release a new set of armor? I know its a novel idea and all...

Cards... I ask again why? does anybody play that anymore? Did it just go away like all the other pointless mini-games after 3-4 days?

Thankyou for giving another reason for people in the kingdoms to gloat at eachother besides battle: kingdom weapons. Its only another factor to make a kingdom look "cooler". A real soldier thinks on the practical uses of a weapon, not how fancy it looks. You've also managed to limit another level in the variety of weapons available. 5... 1 for each kingdom. Unless anyone is stupid enough not to get a kingdom weapon though I admit that will probably happen BECAUSE people have personal favorites. Does that make them all disloyal to the kingdom? This is why we have poor roleplay folks, kingdoms arn't status symbols.

Sarcasm aside I still feel my points are valid. At least read this whole thing over carefully and try to understand the view I'm approaching this from.

I know theres parts that made more sense than others and I had a little bit of disorganization but still. Please read and try to understand what I am saying.

*Note: Interestingly enough I just noticed this post made me a an elite member? What happened to my avatar?

...? There have been MANY important wars over the sea, dating back to the Roman era.. not to mention Medieval times. Havent you seen pearl harbor?

Wont play an active role?

How did the TONS of American Soldiers get to Ohama Beach then? Jetpacks, hmm?
HMM!?!?!?!!

Ships are an important necesity of our current economy, if it wasnt for ships COLUMBUS WOULDNT HAVE FOUND THE NEW WORLD and little &^#$s like you wouldnt be around!

So go ahead saying we dont need ships, and that they wont help in war, be a mormon.. >_>

I mean on graal.... where at most theres 50 players on at one time and its difficult to find enough crew to man 2 or 3 ships -_-
Using such a small portion of people its impossible to accurately simulate real life battle situations.

Zormite always has enough players to mann at least 2 ships.. nto to mention we've got an extensive navy.. if your not in a kingdom you dont really need ships.

I'm in Dustari but currently not actively playing. I got more bang for my buck playing.... that would be talking about other games... even though I don't expect this particular group to EVER compete with Graal in anyway except how fun it is. you said 2 ships? With how many men each? now how many people meet on playerworlds to spar daily? Give me a rough estimate. Can you simulate the land forces as well as those ships? If not, then why the land mounted cannons?

Then perhaps you should be able to build war ships, pre manned.

Instead of building the normal boats we have now on the kingdom islands you can build war ships that will auto fire cannons and stuff for you, would be a good AI task

A mostly automated battle? I don't think so... and the merits of such a thing should be discussed on another topic... I'm gonna nip this reason to go off topic in the bud right now
