Cynical:Review
Sorry for the delay in reviewing. I was busier this last week than I originally expected, plus I had to look over Cynical a few times(I liked it).
The start level has a nice introduction. After that you get warped to a starting house, which introduces you to some controls and stuff.
Something I like: You can press 'W' to JUMP. Yes, JUMP. It's fun =D
(IT's way different than the Babylon Jump system)
If you say '/help', you will be able to read the controls for the system NPC. You can set your HP bar to 5 different gifs, by simply saying 'sethpbar <#>', or you can turn HPbars off and just have normal hearts. There's a day/night system, but you can easily turn it off if it lags you too much by saying "day night off".
After you exit the building, it suggests to you that you go to Robs house, and that it's to the north of where you are. Once in rob's house, rob brings you to town. He follows you around then, telling you certain places to go, introduces you to some buildings in the town, then goes back to his house and lets you run around.
(Too bad the 'followplayer' command doesn't work online.... that might make things a little tough =/ )
The levels are nothing overly amazing, but they aren't horrible ethier. The NPCs are pretty good. There are quests, which are pretty good.
Creativity - 9 There are a lot of creative things here. I could only find one job, but it was different than just pressing D over and over again. I like all the different HP Bars, and the system NPC.
Levels - 5.5 I think the levels could use some work. I've seen a lot worse though, and I think these levels would just cut it to go online with.
NPCs - 7.5 The NPCs are nice. The system NPC has some nice scripting, and the opening intro is scripted nicely. However, the NAT team will have to find some way to make the NPC at the beggining follow you without the 'followplayer' command(Unless I've missed something and it works online now).
Quests - 3 The quests are nothing special at all. First you have to hack through a few baddies, then one predefined-NPC with 10-20 hearts and a level 2 sword coming at you while Arrows shoot at you. Once you beat it, you go on to another room with nearly the exact same thing. This is the only quest I really looked at or did, I couldn't find many others.
Storyline - 6.5 Aside from the opening intro/movie, I couldn't find a whole ton more that followed it.
Overall - 31.5 out of 50
The server has some great creativity and ideas, but a few things need work, I think it has the potential to pass =) Keep working on it, It's really a cool server.
(And sorry about the late review)
Cynical Status: Fail.
