For the future of 2002, idiocy needs to be outlawed

Hmm, too much of the idiocy that flourished on 2001 is seeping into 2002, fast. Some types of rules need to be made against stupid behavior or such or 2002 will have the same type of players 2001 had.

For example today:

Some kid planted about 20-30 trees in the Sea Side Farm while I went up there to make stuff with my boards. Obviously, the trees got more than in my way and it was virtually impossible to see/move inside the farm. I asked him why the hell he was planting all these trees here. He said he "was bored and wanted to make a forest". I told him that this wasn't the place and that he should try to plant trees in a forest, where they belong. He was having none of this and said "stfu", then went to planting more trees. Being a normal anti-social bastard, I grabbed my axe and proceeded to chop every single tree down, being sure to leave the wood for the kid. While I was doing this, he followed me and started swearing up a storm, along with constant "ur mom" references. After deforesting the farm, he proceeded to follow me and tell me I was going to get jailed for chopping his trees. Nice huh?

Later that hour, I went into the mines to help Phantasm out with mining since I was bored. I saw that some Dustarians were using a buddy system for mining, one attacking people who try to get the rock(stealing doesn't exist, it's a free-for-all, didn't know you could get something stolen if you didn't own it), while the other mined. I decided to attack anyone that tried to get the rocks that Phantasm was trying to mine so he could get his gold and leave, fun for me eh? Anyway, about halfway through this, some guy named "Mine Guard Alpha" came up and said "Hey, there is no stealing or attacking in the mines, do it again and you'll be jailed."
I knew there was no such rule, so I continued my killing. He this time swung at me and said he was "reporting me to Pir". I laughed and started killing him for attacking me and being an idiot, I don't like people that think they are authority because they put something in their name. After killing him, he said "Hey, you can't kill me, you're getting banned."
I was on the floor laughing at this point. After a few minutes, I asked him why I wasn't banned yet.
He replied:
"Stefan has given me powers to jail people who attack in the mines, hold on while I report you."
I asked him to hurry up then, never did hear from him again.

So as you can see, if I saw this much stupidity in an hour, imagine what goes on all the time here. Something needs to be done, please.

The mine guards are stupid, but what Dusari did was different. We had been mining for at least 30 minutes before that, and had enough of idiots trying to steal for us, so all we did was take a small section of the mining shaft and share the rocks that fell. It's much more productive. At one point we had a large chunk of the mines, but outside forces over threw us and we had to disband the operation.

You guys really should try this "buddy system", it helps a lot.

We just share rocks really, everyone wins. Enough rocks dropped in that area that everyone always had a rock to break, but we still had to stay on our heels and defend.

Mine Guards have the right idea, but I mean, a Dustarian mine guard, guarding a Dustarian from a Dustarian attacker, kinda dumb if you ask me, what Aftershock said is a better way to go about it.

I agree with you... somewhat... The forest thing was *****ic... Damned tree huggers... About the mining... I sure as hell don't appreciate getting down to the last phase, and having someone hit me, then they steal it. Swords need to be disabled, at least...
Or put owner tags on them...

Last time i checked my sword (if i had one) would not get mysteriously stuck inside its scabbard when I entered certain places, and a rock would break no matter who hits it.
you complain and say RP RP RP RP and then make suggestions such as no PK zones and rock owner tags. Owner tags is stupid although to make it realistic and not anti-RP you could get around making a no PK zone by having it so you have to check your sword at the door and you get it back when you leave.

I planted a forest around Samurai but i was very unlucky and about 30 seconds after my first circle of trees was done stefan restarted the server and changed it to the ghost mode only preview thingie.

Gee, how are we supposed to RP? I mean, I go into the mines, sure yeah, there are some fighters and some rock stealers, but generally everyone is starting to get the idea. Most people are buddied up as it is anyhow, and it's a great system because it intergrates trust between others. I know that I don't mind having a few attackers while I'm mining, it just adds that much more excitment

Because the odds are against the non-thieves.

Thieves can steal your rocks and what can you do about it? Yell at them, waste a bunch of time trying to harass them, and try and kill them which takes about a billion swings of your sword? That is what makes it BS, not the fact that they can steal, it's the fact you can't make them regret it.

I actually like the mine guards, that is the attacking kind, not the "I am going to report and jail you" kind. Then again I already have a far too big load of all minierals so it doesn't really matter to me :P

And yes that does mean I occasionally hit a rock someone else is mining just to get a mine guard guy to attack me.

this is true, but since its alpha not to much is being fixed, only npcs added really. hopefully the g2k2 staff have good heads on there shoulders and wont let 2k2 end up like how 2k1 is.

Had problems myself, but mostly with people hogging over things like the smith shops and the rocks. Swords are laughable. Not only are the attacks pathetically slow, they miss at least 80% of the time.

I see a problem with RPing. Half the time people log on asking where to get the latest things. Hell, I do that too. That's not very RPish.

I agree, but getting attacked by someone in your own kingdom is the opposite of RPing, luckily Kingdom Selection is getting removed...

What if your character is a rogue of the Kingdom? Planning to assist another Kingdom by infiltration and sabotage, perhaps for money or revenge? That makes some sense.

I was actually thinking about that, and we could use maybe gold or diamonds as the currency until gralats are released on the server. It's just a thought, but then again, there's really no need for a currency as there is nothing with a rare value. Anything and everything on 2k2 can be made, so what's the value of money? That's why I didn't suggest it in the first place...On top of that, what good is money that can be created? That also makes it worthless...

Actually, I think a neat solution to that problem would be this, (I got this idea from entering the café on JK2) have a guard stand at the door of "No PK zones" and when someone is about to enter, have the guard say, "Please hand over your weapons, you will get them back when you leave." You then should have the option to give them your weapons and be able to enter, or not hand over your weapons and obviously you wouldn't be able to enter. I actually think that would go along with the RP scenario, and it'd be a good way to handle no PK zones, rather than having to check your sword everytime you enter the room.

Yes, we could, but this is the biggest flaw of 2002, at least in my mind.
My goal wasn't to ***** about the idiots, I wanted to give warning so it could be fixed, and not end up like 2001.
The players are *****s, that is a big problem, so please, figure out a way to fix this problem, before history repeats itself.

1. I wasn't complaining, I was giving forwarning.
2. What I am forewarning about is very important towards the future of 2002. A server with people who do not constantly do retarded things is vastly better than one with people who do stupid things and exclaim "WTF, don't cut that down"and "ur mom sux".
2002 may turn out to be what 2001 is if stupidy reigns, and that, my idiotic friend, is why I am giving warning about it.

So, if you think this "complaint" is dumb, then you need to actually think, for a change.

I think his complaint about the gaurds is groundless, but not the one about the trees. It's not like the guy is complaining about a single tree, the guy was planting tons of them and blocking his path. I'm surprised he didn't take the wood when he chopped all the trees.
