Ultaris, the pw I've been working on (but keeping a secret until I had enough done that if anybody tried to copy me, I'd be done first) is coming along quite well. Here is how it's going to work...
There is the first town, which will currently be blocked off by boulders, and as a community, the players will have to find away to get rid of it. (Spoiler: They have to pay[raise money together] the local wacko to build them dynamite)
Before I go into detail of what can be done outside the town, let me tell you briefly about the town itself. There will be both player owned houses, and npc owned houses. How does a player get a house? They go to city council, and buy it. (The server has lots of server strings btw). Now, when you go to a door, one of four things could happen...
1) It'll be unlocked, and just open
2) It will knock (I know konidias is doing this too, but it was my idea first, and it's a little bit different, continue to read on), and on the inside the door knocks. If it's an npc house, the npc character will move and answer the door (if you're in the house, you would see this). If it's a player house, and a player touches it, they will open it by opening the door on the inside.
3) If you have a key, you will be able to lock it
4) If you have a key, you will be able to unlock it
Also within the world, events happen depending on day and hour, and big things that happened can be recorded, if entered by the mayor (whoever is voted in) of any town.
Once you can go outside of the town, the world is fairly large, well over 200 outdoor levels. This is useful because the mayor can outcast certain people out of the town, or at least try, that do things such as PK. He will pay guards, which can also be people, to guard the town. Now, I am not going to make it so there has to be a mayor, there will be at the start, but the world is going to be totally interactive. You can start another town too somewhere, maybe by a river, and have fishing boats, and have that as a market, while the other place has trees, providing lumber. This would create trade, which would create jobs and businesses, and an economy.
(This is all I could think of right now, in the morning. And yes, there will be quests, a lot of group puzzle ones especially)
To have an all equal balance, there will be no staff, whatsoever, except for me. If players want to help, they can still create gfx, levels, scripts, etc, but they won't be staff, they'll just make game money, sometimes off me, or just other players. If you want to start a new town (or kingdom, empire, whatever you want), you could hire a whole team of level makers if you guys could work out some deal.
So, please, give me some input, input is always good. BTW, I already have all these scripts finished if you're hesitating about thinking how far it is

Here's probably the only screenshot you'll get until launch. It already reveals too much secret info, but hardly any for what I have in store. |
