Varia Progress

Hello there, this thread is keep the community updated on the progress I'm making with Varia. So far many of the core systems are completed (Intro, movement, shop, inventory, etc) Only major one left to work on is the baddie system which I plan on having done by the end of today ( 12.10.2009). As of yet there really isn't much player content, but it's being worked on with great progress. Probably by the end of Christmas week will there be a simple quest for players to do. One thing I do ask is don't ask to be hired, I'm currently not looking for any staff during these alpha stages of the server. I plan on having based like the old Zelda games, but with a few screwballs here and there like Link's Awakening. (Forgive me mods for mentioning another game on the forums) You are welcome to come check it out and give me your input or report bugs, please do. Until my next update Happy Holidays.

Current keys layout (These are standard but they should reroute fine if you changed the default key config for Graal)
Q - Inventory
W - Stat Menu
A - Grab, ( With directional keys) push, pull
S - Sword
D - Use Primary Item
F - use Secondary Item
P - Save Current position
O - Toggle BGM playing on.off

Also most character NPCs you can grab to interact with, but ones you can't, you can double click them too.

Baddie System is done, got our first basic baddie, real simple to beat once you get the sword. But challenging when they're in a pack. Next on the agenda is the leveling system. Probably be done in a few hours but definitely by tomorrow.

Update : Leveling System done!
Update 2: Time system/Day<->Night System done!
Update 3: Semi-decent bgm system going. Press 'O' to toggle it on/off.

A feature to 'save current position' has high potential for abuse. Just a heads-up.

glad to see you are still working on the project we were once both working on: except you stopped talking to me altogether, i started getting bugs whenever we talked on AIM where i can never see your responses, and you didn't seem to want to talk to me anyways. i hope you are not planning to use my ideas anymore (such as the saving system) seeing as essentially i was kicked off the project since we can't seem to communicate anymore (and i seem to be the only one interested in communicating anyways?) and you never told me the premise for what seemed to be you half of the server - you always put it off as something you would show me later, which always made me somewhat suspect of what it was we were actually working on

i don't know your vantage point on it jex, but i wanted to keep working with you: when i combined my ideas with armageddon, i was hoping you would still work with me on it. it doesn't seem to have panned out that way, and a lot of the concepts and ideas we had planned on for varia are now being somewhat implemented on armageddon (not all of them, but many of the cores ideas are in some fashion being used) and i don't want to cause any problems between the two servers in that way. then again, i have no idea where you eventually went with the project, so perhaps you are not using anything me and you discussed at all?

On the actual quest it can only be used in "safe areas" so no abuse, don't worry, already thinking ahead.

Logon Server
Create your character
Get Sword from Town Elder
Get $100 from Student
Buy Tanned Hide from Shop
Get $20 from Chest
Go to the far west to kill baddies till you level up and get a total of $80
Go buy Wood Shield from Shop
Pull monument over in northwest level (Must have a sword and shield in your inventory to do this)

cant get tanned hide + shield, before you ask i got 284g

I notice when you make your character the shoe color and the belt color are mixed up so when you change belt it changes shoes and when you change shoes it changes the belt.

Hmm, I believe it may because the server didnt update your account on login in, working on it. FIXED! (Sorry for the inconvenience)

This is all preview stuff, just demonstrate what the server is capable of. The real server I haven't released to players yet. No worries. :]
