Display your custom weapons!

So I've been working, at seldom, on designing some guns based/meant for Era.

I'm just basically looking for opinions and suggestions. If you must flame, offer critique and ways to make some of these items fit more the natural appeal and theme of Era and any other modernized server.

Here are two weapons I just started today (east/west, no south/north facing directions yet) and announced on Era and received a very welcomed embrace.

I'd like to hear from people here in the forums who are usually a little more mindful of what they see and offer a bit more expertise in their words.

This is an M16 remake. In order to test my ability with weapons with a larger variety of diverse colors, I decided to aim for the baseplate of the "wooden camo" look on the M16. I have not yet added the splotches/digitalized ink spots to make it look official, but it's my current design.

And this is the M4A1 that I also started today. It is a realistic touch on an M4A1 modeled to take on BB's current M4A1 (which is using the oldest M4 graphic available for Era). I do realize the graphics seem a bit... out of Era's "cartoon-ish" feel but that's why I decided to post something here.

Feed back is appreciated heavily.

Also, feel free to post anything you've recently been working on.

Me is guessing you're referring to the M16, but it sn't really a "recolor" you could go ahead and compare this one to the one currently in Era and the more recent black, nasty looking one that was made.

My bad Raven, no I thought you were trying to give me that story not only to feed an example but to state that they don't allow "recolors," I just wanted to say that the M16 I did was actually made from scratch, the color scheme is different, and unless there is a more current M16, I don't think I really ripped off the elements.

Anyway, I'm just using this thread to help showcase some weapon gfx and help stimulate some others to invest time in new/custom creations that could be considered at the least.

could have done more work on making a more texturized feel.
looks more like a toy gun then a metal one.

Ah, yeah, that would be a great idea. Ultimately my aim was getting a base made for the weapons so I have something to go and edit whenever needed. I'll make textures a priority for when I properly color in and shade these weapons.

Thanks, Logababy. Anything in particular you'd say that should be worked on though?

To be honest not really.
If they were a gun on era I wouldn't pick that you made it.

Not too sure I get that response, if it was a gun on Era, you wouldn't pick that I made it? You mean you wouldn't know or care? xD

Anyway, thanks for the positivity. I'll try to upload more recent images soon.

Liberated has a spectacular aura about
About the m16:
i don't really like how you colored it, in my opinion it needs more contrast, metal is shiny.
I also didn't really understand some of the shading going on inside the ´body´ of the gun.
The overall shape looks fine to me, but in my opinion, both the stock and the barrel were too long, and the body could do with a bit more length, i also thought that the body could do without the black lines inside of it.

I usually find myself struggling with words when it comes to critizing a drawing, and thought it would be best to make an edit to show what i mean.

edit: I resized the picture of a real m16, and found that your version is more accurate, yet in my eyes less suited for graal, i also don't know what era's original m16 looks like.

Thanks for the critique, it'll actually help me go for a realistic touch on the weapons. The thing is I wanted the color to fit that "camo" look, I haven't started adding the textures to the weapon just yet. Once I get a chance, I'll upload a version with more detail on it. All weapons I do are usually within a realistic spec of the weapon in real life, so I could see where the problem may come in. Of course, they're resized in accordance with the actual graal body so it actually doesn't look that bad once placed over a graal body.
