Missing/Daggers, wtf?

It came to mind and I'm sure everyone else has already asked this once before but, how do you miss?
I mean, you have a weapon almost the size of your enemy and you are right in front of him, how do you miss that? Perhaps that should be changed to block, no?

Daggers also have a problem, how does a SMALL weapon like that do almost the same amount of damage as a huge axe/sword?

It's just a game.. it doesn't have to confirm to realistic standards, most of which would ruin gameplay. Closed.
