freeze lag

I dont know why, but on era and other servers, when theres explosions, or im just running i freeze for a second or two, its really annoying.. My computer can run counter strike source, but why is graal lagging? and help?

Make the screen smaller? run in 16-bit mode?

The screen is smaller than 800x600, im not in fullscreen, and i shouldt really have to change anything..its not like graal is a huge game..ill try 16 bit

Edit*: Changing it to 16 bit didnt help it, i have the latest drivers insttalled aswell
