Maloria V3: The New Direction

I'm taking the reins and hopefully we'll push forward here. I'm very excited about what's to come and I hope to God we finish. I also hope you will enjoy the server when we get it done.

A sneak peak of what we are going to offer:

A much simpler system harking back to the days of v1 and Orange Mal.

Open ended character development. Take your character in whatever direction you want.

Wide variety of more balanced items, with a large number being craftable.

Enchant your weapons and equipment with elemental bonuses that help you do and take less damage.

You won't have to level up for hours on end and apply the right points to your stats to have a chance to kill people.

There will be a pseudo-leveling system where you train skills that allow you to get abilities/attacks/spells. You train skills by using a weapon in that category or by using an ability or spell in that category on a monster or another player. There will be small number of skill levels per skill to keep it simple.

Combine abillities/spells to create new abillities/spells (for example a slash attack and a fire spell would equal a fire slash).

There will be no levels, everyone starts out with the same base stats and then as you progress you will get/craft/pickup/buy equipment (armor, weapons, accessories) that boost your stats from there. Some equipment will have skill level requirements though.

It will be more skill based. You will also see the return of health and mana increases via quests/exploring. The focus will shift more to events, quests, and story telling (Worrian vs Daednu).

It's going to be kinda like a psuedo-MMORPG and a Classic server all rolled into one.

I should make that clearer. Basically if you worked at it long enough you could be well skilled in everything we are going to offer (as in building up your skill level).

Both Twizted and myself resigned from Zodiac on the same day for the same reasons.

Considering we were the only ones that actually started working on 'Zodiac v2', I'd say that project either won't get done, or it won't get done within the near future. That also means that Zodiac lost its only Game Developers (actually positions), so I wouldn't expect any major updates from Zodiac anytime soon. Zodiac is headed down the same path as Maloria, sadly, and I don't mean to take a crack at Maloria, but it's the truth.

As for Maloria, to be honest, you guys have been all talk and little action lately. You guys need to sort out your staff problems before you bother remaking Maloria, which from the sounds of it you're going to degrade Maloria back to a psuedo-classic type server, which wouldn't be an improvement, but a downgrade since you guys seem to not be capable of handling complex blueprints.

Smirt in charge of Maloria right now? Is that what you meant? If so, no comment...(not that anyone could be any worse than Mania anyways)

Good luck, though. I'd suggest sorting out your problems, first.

Also, on topic, good luck with this new plan Smirt. Will there be any quests involving Worrian vs Daednu, or will it be the same as v2 and before where the only Worrian vs Daednu was the random RP events that you guys did.

Also Gambet it's not Smirt running Maloria, its Mania, Smirt, and me. I won't lie, our track record for v3 is crap. But I'm pretty determined that we'll get this done. You guys can go ahead and not believe it, and I wouldn't blame you. But keep in the back of your minds that we mean it this time. Yes in fact we hope to create an actual storyline that gets everyone involved (maybe going as far as picking sides?) as well as do a bunch of random RP events.
