The original version was written in Java, then we switched to Pascal/Delphi. Graal v4 has an engine written in C++ and the interface in Pascal/Delphi.

hmm ok

Why did you choose to code in Java first?
Why did you drop Java?
Why did you choose Delphi/Pascal instead?
Why did you change over to C++?

I actually have a book on VB for games, and there is a lot you can do - but it limits you to Windows. You're cutting off the Mac and Linux potential customer base, if you want to charge any money for your games. Depends what your target audience is.

I learned line number basic probably before you were born (20+years ago) and that was a good instriduction to programming for me. These days, VB is as good of a start. Do you know Javascript? theres lots of free resources for that.
There are also some free C++ compilers out there. C++ is the goal to aim for these days.

C++ works on multiple systems, plus you can do just about anything with it

Seriously, if you learn VB, you are only creating more problem for your further education because your thinking will be extremly broken after VB.
