Something needs to be done.

I remember the days when I could walk out of my Dustarian house, and see the roads alive with the movement of townspeople. Dustarians proudly identified themselves, and went about their business, helping each other, learning of each other, and each person playing their role in the great story of life.

However, those days are passed. Dustari as is stands now, is a dying Kingdom...no... it is a dead kingdom. The towns are deserted, buildings lay in ruin, crumbling from disrepair, and the red and black no longer commands the same respect it once had.

Something needs to be done to restore the glory of Dustari. We can't let it slip away like this. I know Dustari can regain its former greatness, but things will have to happen to make it possible. Therefore, I suggest we use this space to offer suggestions on how we can get things back on track.

Suggestions on the board so far:

1. Active Recruiters to bring in new and fresh members.

2. Dustari's legacy of war

3. A Website with kingdom information, allowing prospective new members to find information.

Start recruiting new members! I mean it may sound oversimple, but I don't recall the last time I saw an active Dusty member online and actively seeking members.

It's a good idea, but there's some things to consider.

1. I don't know of many active members that have the rights to add members, which makes it difficult for anyone to be recruited.

2. Quality is better than quantity. It'd be nice to find members that actually want to be a part of the kingdom, and want to be part of a roleplaying group, rather than people that just want to switch to battle mode.

I definately agree about quality over quantity, but I think its also possible to pick up some people who maybe arent going to be the next princes and kings, but maybe, with a small amount of training and discipline, can be fine additions to the RP.

That's true, I suppose. So one thing we should look at is getting an active recruiter that can bring in more members. It makes sense after all. I can't very well train any new mages if there...well...aren't any.

Being a Duke of Dustari in its golden age I can be an advisor to how it came to be.

First thing, Dustari was in a constant state of war. Everyone joined because of this and everyone was active because of this. Dustari eventually became the biggest nation and the strongest one. We had strong recruiters and even stronger players.

That was the success of Dustari, recruitment and war.

A good point, but we all know how wars on GK usually turn out. Until there's a good, and balanced Kingdom Mode, I don't think we'll see any worthwhile wars..

Zeltino will become famous soon enough
You could set up a website giving contact information, recruitment requirements, ranks, etc. If people can view that information, then maybe they will join. Sometimes new players just rush into joining a kingdom for the sake of joining. Sometimes they join some other kingdom because the one they previously wanted to join, they couldn't find any recruiters. I think a website would help newer players (if the website was massed) decide, and possibly join Dustari.

Possibly. I know Padren was working on one some time ago, but never really got it to go anywhere besides posting the ranks from the time (which have since been changed around anyway.)

Then you'll ultimatly fail.

So this is what you do, you OOCly meet with the Pirates and arrange a constant war that wages on. Make rules of war and roleplaying that include sinking Dustarian ships and smuggling Rum.

As before mentioned: Outlaw Rum, why? Because the pirates make it. Agree to a strict no-land war, the only thing that happens on land is pure roleplaying when the pirates land to smuggle some rum in.

You do this, have naval battles atleast every other day, and Dustari and the Pirates will grow in size and power. It creates a balanced system of warfare and even opens the potential for the industrialization of the nations - have factories that buy iron from a miner's guild, and the factories sell cannon balls and whatnot.

I think it'd be cool if that could be a job on GK, smuggling. You go to the pirate's island to accept a job to smuggle stuff, once you agree then you're given a pirate cap and a new flag is added such that if you're hit once then you're warped back to the pirate island. NPCs would be added on say Dustari who hunt these pirates down just to hit them, nothing more. But here's the catch for the pirates, the npcs wont supply the rum, the rum must come directly from the farmers of the Pirate island. This then creates another industry and economic flow for the server.

So yeah, do the above and then reinstall the Warhare Lands and as the Admiral House and jump start this back up.

Zurk, get gold again so I can get you instated as a Regent, dammit.

I had a lot of stuff prepared for changing the state of Dustari, but I got fed up with Kingdoms, and I left my Prince position to Steven, who asked for it back. Now the Prince is gone and I never speak much with the king anymore, so yeah... kind of hard to get people as recruiters when I have no jurisdiction over that any longer. The system would've reformed old territories and given the deadened ones to new owners, but the king really has no idea of how to get that going properly, or else just hasn't bothered with it, and it's a problem.

I think that sounds really fun! If some other ideas like that could be made for the other kingdoms as well then it would really allow for some growth in the kingdoms that need it. Alan is usually up for any kind of fun RP event, so I'm sure he'll be up for it, and Dusty could use it as a basic way to recruit (Join Dustari! We're in need of good strong sailors to sink pirate smuggling scum!) And the strictly RP on land and battle on the sea is good until a good K-mode is released.

Yeah, I could just see that happen. People run up to each other and start a fastest-finger battle to see who can powerplay the other person the quickest. The loser logs off or just goes away to simulate dying.

Harhar I didn't mean that. I just mean like discussions, treaties, planning meetings, stuff like that will happen on land. But on land battle would have to be with those NPCs that Zurk was talking about. pvp battling will be boat battle strictly.
