Yeah, and you wonder why the playercount is EGADS, falling?
It's horrendously newb unfriendly. You get killed by everything that moves, and newbie island doesnt give much of an introduction..
With peasantry however, you can choose to move on into a bigger island, whereas you can amass a small fortune before setting off.
Now for some ideas!
----------------------
Peasantry - New skill - Allows quicker growth of small crops, allows growth of new cash crops (olives, mint, spices..) which sell for large amounts.
A new island - unnamed (can anyone come up with one?)
You would have an option from the captain on newbie island as to where you want to sail to - straight to main island (start off with a low peasantry skill) or take a training course on the boat for peasantry and head to the island. Once on the island, you would gain 5 levels of peasantry (enough to sow/tend/harvest all growable crops quickly, flutes would work, and as you grow each crop, you get a certain amount per crop
Corn 0.25 exp till level 15 (first cash crop)
Sugarcane 0.50 exp till level 15
Cocoa 1.00 exp till level 15
Wheat 0.60 exp till level 15 (grown in bulk - exp per harvest, so if you had 30 plants growing, you'd get 30x2 = exp (as the wheat would give 2 per crop)
And all the others would average at .45
First you'd head to a part of the island where you could borrow an axe of a lumberjack, and proceed to cut down fast respawning trees to make a shack with. You'd need 10 crude logs and you'd then take them to the lumberjack who'd take his axe and the logs and give you a timber ceritificate. You'd then take the ceritifcate to the housing permission, and you'd get to choose a spot on the map where your shack/house/farm would be. A pile of wood would lay at that spot for three days ingame, if it wasnt built by the owner, it would vanish and you would get a 30 plat refund. To build a shack, near your wood pile would be a toolbox. Only you can use it. Grab it, and you'd begin to make a shack. Making a shack takes around 10 minutes in real life. You'd have a fenced area around your shack (you could choose where it was) and some raised earth would be put there. You could immediently rush down to the seed merchant in town, and borrow some corn seeds/dig some corn (corn seeds grow faster still, but you'd owe the merchant 5 silver coins for every seed you borrow, he'd cause damage to your shack if you didnt pay within three days, and would continue to until you pay him). Planting the corn takes roughly a minute, and you'd plant a row at a time. The corn would take around 24 hours to grow. During this time, you could build furniture for your shack by borrowing an axe (or using your own you made on newbie island) and you could chop down more trees, take them to the lumberjack and he'd give you money for them. 30 gold coins per log, and he'd buy no more than 20 in an hour. Furniture would range from 5-100 gold coins, depending on quality. A toolbox to replace/repair your shack (it would damage over a week to -15% the normal so it was 100% it'd now be 85%, a shack will fall around 30%, you can salvage your furniture/items from then, but when it gets below 10% it'd catch on fire and you'd lose everything.). You could extend your shack, for maybe a food storage room or a study, it would cost 10 plat for a toolbox, and it would have anywhere from 1-10 uses.
Other activities would be to run errands for people around the town, such as picking flowers for the florist, delivering parcels or crops to certain places, killing bandits in the abandoned mine, (10 gold per bandit you kill, plus some snazzy peasant grade armor, such as crude/torn leather, and misc items of clothing) hunting (you'd buy a bow and a quiver of arrows (good for killing 30 game) and around the island there would be deer/wolves/game fowl which you could shoot, kill and skin them, sell their hides/feathers and keep or store the meat, stored meat for 2 hours will sell for 30 plat in bunches of 10.) you could also fletch, and many more peasant stuffs.
Once you have ammassed a small fortune (1000 plat) on the island, you will be asked by a warden if you would like to take apprenticeship under a certain class teacher. Thieves would get rangers, warriors would get knights, etc. You'd get some special equipment (such as a quiver that doesnt run out of arrows for a month real time) for doing so, and some awesome looking armor.
Peasntry would increase physical, mental and agility in the long run. Sorcerors/spell based classes could also do paperwork as a side class, to earn money.
