Solutions.

As a side note, from the posts I made in the scamming thread, I've decided to become part of the solution, rather than just another complainer.

I think that introducing more items into the GK economy, it would give the monopolizing power players less leverage to try to take advantage over the less wealthy sorts, so I began looking for a solution.

I think our lack of new items/content is caused by lack of people willing to produce said items and content, so I am going to be taking the liberty of producing such content along with descriptions and suggested usage. Unfortunately, seeing as I have no access to GK I cannot make the updates happen myself, so for this thread to work, someone who does have said access would have to make the updates happen. Hopefully this idea is seen favorably and can be used to advance GK a bit.

I urge others to also produce content and supply it for use on the GK server, because I think that the staff with rights to add content would be more likely to do so if most of their work was done for them.

Some ground rules:
1) Recolors are ok, so long as there is a clear difference between it and anything currently existing. I mean, look how many times platemail was recolored.

2) Make sure your graphics submissions actually work in graal, 8 bit PNGs with no alpha channel and proper transparency. A good rule of thumb is that if you cannot make it show in the editor with showimg, it's just not going to work.

3) Don't just plagiarize something you've seen, it's one thing to be inspired, it's another thing to flat out copy someone, a little bit of creative is required, but if you don't have any, I suggest finding some.

4) Don't just throw together stickmen or other useless things, work hard and submit quality stuff, don't half-ass it, and keep with the general feel of GK, be creative, but don't create something that obviously doesn't match the environment it going to be used in.

5) Lastly, submit the ideas for your content, if it's a level, provide informations on it's purpose, if it graphics for an item or otherwise, make sure and provide a suggested name for the item, and suggested stats/purpose. In that however, do not be unrealisitic, a dagger that has damage+1000 is just not going to work, also, this is a thread to submit content to be used on GK, perhaps they use your images or levels, but change thier original intended purpose. Don't be sore about that, just be happy that the server is actually advancing with new content and that you helped to make that happen.

That is all, I think.

That being said, here's my first entry.

That is Studded Leather (ac+4)(armor+6)(speed+1)
It is made of: leather.
It weighs 7.500kg.
You would get 1 platinum coins, and 2 gold coins for it.

I suggest that skins, iron bars, and armor plates be required to produce this in shops, the exact amount is debatable.

Also, as a side note, I don't think it would be incredibly difficult to use the same image and produce alchemy items of the same type but for each of the gods, as well as to create Studded Leather of Woe, and studded leather of berwean, studded leather of Great Mass, etc, all the stat modifications for those item suffixes are fairly universal. Anyone, feel free to modify and/or recolor, the more versions the better.

Thanks, I hope that all of us in the community can help GK have more content by assisting those who can add it, rather than sitting around complaining about the lack of.

and by the way, Thanks.

I guess his point is that he don't like it to make new GFX.

That seems way too powerful to me for something made in the shops. You need to think about the balance between normal, alchemy and rare items.

I agree with giving the less wealthy sorts more of a chance to get good items, but I think they still need to put a bit of work into it.

I did have trouble like that even when saving as an 8 bit PNG with indexed transparency, the advice I got on debug was to save it as a gif and use gif2mng.exe to convert the file into a png. I don't know if the newer clients have better codecs readers now but I know it solved a lot of trouble for me a while back.

I am not positive but I think it comes with graal when you install the dev stuff.

It does.

I remember I have a shield somewhere on my PC. It wasn't good about 1 1/2 years ago but it probably will be now.

What GK really needs are quests though. I mean real quests, not 'bring this to him and that to her and bring her to her pedophile grandfather and make a box and bring that to some stupid cook in a stupid café on the stupid island of the stupid zormites'. That's just stupid.

The stats are just suggested, leather armor would obviously give more mobility than platemail, which explains the speed, and that mobility would increase your evasion, explaining the ac, leather however, is particular weaker than platemail, explaining the armor+6, which is absolutely horrid for body armor, once again though, they are just suggested stats, they are open to modification.

Armour is nothing, AC is everything. Obey your thirst!

Plus, even if it gives more mobility than platemail, it wouldn't make you faster. It would just not slow you down as much.
