Avatar and such to follow mouse cursor

I think controlling summons and such should be handled by making them follow the mouse cursor if the left mouse button is pressed. Otherwise they should just roam around like normal monsters.

I think it's fine like they are now, even though the mouse-draffing sometimes fails. In long corridors or such, I like to get my grace up, but praying will disturb the mouse-lock.

Heh it's fine how it is..
The whole point of it is for you to control it; you don't want it to walk around killing nothing..

I agree with loriel.

Right now we have a Piece of ******************* system, it looks poor.

If we used a mouse itd be much better, because since when do you MOVE around to make that movie, if your using a wand, wouldnt you be controlling it with that?

If your not gonna change it, then make a glow around the player to make it look like your possessed.

What Loriel is referring to isn't the usability of the mouse - which is already there, you can controle it via mouse and walk independantly, just your line of sight will change. He's complaining about what happens if you don't use the mouse

How you do that? Or do you just mean use the mouse like strafe?

I think in addition to using the conventional way, using the mouse is an extra way.

Re: Re: Re: Avatar and such to follow mouse cursor

Click somewhere in your graalwindow and move the mouse arround, keeping the button down. If you're lucky, your character will keep facing your mousepointer. It usually works in the upper-left corner of the screen, sometimes it's another area though.

Indeed - never argued that. I think both ways are fine and suffice, while having avatars wander like monsters wouldn't be fun .

Well i assumed what he meant by this was that the avatar would follow you around and stand near you, until you click on a monster and tell it to attack. Sinse it has a time limit i think this would work pretty good. I think it should stop when it gets to the enemy too, so you don't have to walk back and forth trying to hit it.

I think Avatar should take some attention the way it does right now - otherwise you can have it stand guard for you, which I don't believe is the point...

That would be quite tricky - either you'd have to switch which unit to controle, and leave you vulnerable and unmonitored, of you'd have to use 2 sets of keys, which are most likely hotkeyes... It's already enough fun to walk to the left while creating arrows using J

Well if it didn't attack anything until you clicked on it, it wouldn't be standing guard, you would. You couldn't go away from keyboard and have it attack things, because you have to click on it first.

And seeing as it can't really do much against a player, or even catch one for that matter, I don't think it would make things much different, but I would get to stop running around looking like an idiot while trying to get my avatar to actually hit something.

Plus the avatar should only be able to attack things from a certain distance away. If it gets too far away, the avatar should come back to you and wait.

Maybe your body could get shielded or something, like the other guy said, you could glow and look possed or something ;P (Maybe a mind control spell?!)

i must agree with loriel as well. currently in the state that the avatar is in it is no good. when mapping especially in brutals when u get eaten by worms (which is unavoidable regardless of ac) your direction is set south although a few people have found a way around that by dragging out skills WITH MOUSE and controlling it that way. it would be easy just to set it that way without having to go through selecting a skill and so forth....

it would be nice to be able to control ur players movement with mouse as well o.o but the two things together wouldnt work unless when u control avatar u have disabled movement. which no one wants. another idea would be able to become the avatar ;-) and gain its strengths and weaknesses including speed and kill by walking into monsters XD that would be interesting. and also easier to control the monsters but would how would u script the character change? XD could u imagine worshipping ogma and seeing 1000/1000 hp on ur health bar XD. or worshipping brigid and running around as a panther hopping at people
