problems with linux v3 client

http://www.geocities.com/lunpadavinci/isthisbad.png
I'm asuming thats not suposed to happen...
Would that explain why the client is so damn slow?
Would anyone know how I'd fix this (keep in mind I'm a new linux user, still recovering from having used winblowz98 for so long)?

The link is not working, better directly upload the picture here.
When v3 is very slow then you need to install an OpenGL driver for your card, for Nvidia and ATI I could help with finding the drivers.

Yes the installed opengl driver seems to be the default software driver which doesn't support many 3D functionality, so better install a good driver. The distributions often don't contain the binary drivers from ATI and Nvidia because the drivers are not open source.

Ah, thanks I realy apreciate your help

I found nvidia's driver for my system and hardware, but I need to turn off X to install it O.O

me==new linux user

I'm using mandrake 9.0 ... any ideas how I'd temporarily turn off the X server? btw, I tried ps-A and killing its process, and it certantly cripples X for the time being, but the installer still claims X is up.

also, when can we expect to see an RC for linux?

Perform the following in your terminal:

vim /etc/inittab

press insert

where it says id:5:initdefault

change that 5 to a 3
then press ESC
then type :w!
then type :q
then shutdown -r now

And when your computer boots X will not. To change this back, repeat the previous step and make the 3 back to a 5.

Or....
Since your running Mandrake you could do this.

mdkkdm
killall mdkkdm

then X should not boot because you shut off the Display Manager. If that dont work go with the /etc/inittab

And about the RC for Linux, just use WineX3. If you need it I will send you it.
