Faheria chatting system, NEW AND IMPROVED!

Okay it was completely re-done and it's features are as follows:

- No lag what-so-ever, works perfectly
- Emotes
- Server messages, as in "<Server> Shadrock enters the chat"
- Admins of the server have different color text so it will be easier to mass announcements and have them be noticed
- There is a window that shows all the people currently in the room
- flood protection, meaning there is a 5 second pause before you can post another message
- and last but not least, WORDWRAP!

There are tons more cool features to come so keep checking back for updates on it. Oh here is a screenshot.

Make it word wrap by words, rather than individual characters.

Dude, will you please shut up? whether it's easy to make or not is not the point, the point is is that it was re-made and enhanced. So don't come here bragging about how good you are at scripting, because we don't care.

Improvements? Enhancements? Maybe those are what you ment.

All you need to do is from the cut off point, go back each character 1 at a time until you hit a space, then truncate everything after the space and make it a new line. ^_^

Just an idea, but you should add multiple rooms and perhaps rooms with password security.

That is possible acually. Thanks for the Idea. I might just do that. Create ing chatrooms with passwords is nice too. Maybe be able to bring up a menu with all availible chat rooms? might be nice.

Btw. the comment about its EZ to make is acually either one of 2 tihngs.

1) you are scared that the thing that was made is too l33t for you
2) It really is sometihng simple (Like a door npc or something)

To make a lag free chat on P2P isnt something that you can fling up in 10 seconds. Becasue server flags arnt sent to the client you have to send it to them. Mine doesnt even use server flags anymore because it just clogs up space.

erm .. too l33t ? im not gonna brag or nething but it is simple .. and I complimented him said it had nice features..

also when you have the advantage to do everything server sided it isnt so hard.. (since the npc server basically does things in order)

Actually, making a chat system for NPC server is much harder because the server flags aren't sent to the players. The only way I can think of is making smart use of triggeraction to connect the server-side with the client-side code...

yeah ..
but what I mean by lag free is that in a client sided one you would have all of the "parsing" done by the client and if something was sent in while he was changing the server flags it would mess up .. (thats the prob. with those on free pw's)
but on p2p the server does the parsing so it doesnt mess up that way .. u just have to find a way on how you will work the flags..

On Graal2002 we have a chat system, which
works good (the players who want to chat
are registering to the server-side part of the weapon
and only they get the new chat lines so it's
not laggy especially for people who are not in the
chat room), but we have no things like different chat
rooms yet

YEah I added like waht 4 chat rooms. I might add it so that you can make your own chat room. Password wouldnt be too hard.

Only 1 donwside i had to come across. Now that the wordwrap wraps acual words. It got a little bit laggier. But as I find people usually use short phrases rather than big long paragraphs so it shouldnt casue too much problem.

dont have npc server or much time to do xtra things ne more..
but few weeks ago I had made chat w/ pm and priv. msg and server parsing and all that in VB ... and that took me like a few hours

I think stefan needs to get rid of toall and mass messages.. just use chat rooms.. it would be alot cooler and people could go in chatrooms they like and not have to worry about stupid ads and people massing retarded things.

well he could put ads on the top or the bottom of the caht room and the chat room could be fullscreen or whatever .. it wouldnt bother much and would be good
