I would love to take and fix up 2k1 so people will play, i loved that server, and I remember talking to James about working there when he started managing it, before it went down the (Second?) time [They started using new bodies i do know this].
Like I said before, people with the pure dedication to take it and complete it, may be overlooked by people who are more "Well Known".
What is wrong with 2k1 is very easy to fix, and probably wouldnt take much time, but its about getting someone in there who can, and will, also wants, to do it.
