It's not directly related to Graal's plot line, but it involves similar important features and characters such as the Golden Gate, Segrub, and Stefan.
It wouldn't be ideal to make it exactly the same as Graal's story with Fung Si Yan losing his parents and trying to obtain the four Graals because then only people with knowledge of Graal's background would be able to enjoy the film to it's fullest extent. Pimpsy didn't want that, instead he wanted it so that anybody who stumbled across the video could enjoy it the same, except a few of the easter eggs and such. This way it appeals to a MUCH larger audience.
You should think about how it's being thrown out to the Minecraft audience more than the Graal audience, and how reusing the same plot line can be tedious and uncreative before you give somebody negative rep
