My original idea was something like a points system instead of coins. Like, we could have 5 or so minigames and maybe slot machines. We could jack up the price of the items to like, tens of thousands of points and have it so that if you do really well on the minigames you might get like, a few hundred points or something. And EMs, when holding events, would give out like a thousand to 5000 points to the winner, depending on the difficulty of the event.
Of course, you could minimize the amounts of points needed and gained, but I've found that people love having things in big quantities.
