We have that style of tower more or less as part of the castle upgrade we are doing. Basically, the towers have inside levels and you can go on the roof to use spells and arrows in combat, and walk along the battlements of the main castle walls.
We are also changing castle to have a proper castle keep inside the walls, instead of a 'door into the wall' like it is now.
My point is that towers are doable right now, you just need kingdom lats with some spare time.
I do think it would be great if towers could be setup as player built additions, that need to be maintained and such. If done well they would be a great addition to the new kingdom war system...... whatever that will be.
