Older players had it much harder and longer than new players... Have you ever ran around fighting and leveling with unprepped unblessed weapons? in the HH? how about prepped with 1 slot? And there were not many people who knew what stats did either back then...

First of all, this time period you played in is older than what is being referred to. Furthermore, at that time, GK even said it was alpha in the title...
One of the time periods in question is the one where players could get alchemy items easily. As I already said, by spending around 1k at the time, you could get what is now an awesome set of items (price increased greatly; inflation + becoming rare = high value) and run around with your great armour, helm, gloves, etc and gain easy EXP. Now players can only obtain armors that slow you down, not so good helms (basically anything that has an image to it sucks...), and this makes them levle up MUCH slower. Compared to them, the person who only had to spend a few hundred plats (or what is probably now equivilant to 1-3k because of inflation...while the value of the set would be as high as over 100k since the price depends on how badly each player likes it[buyer and seller]) on an alchemy set is a god. See the problem?
