This kinda reminds me of the deiti whom doesn't allow you to use weapons or wounding spells.... There could also be a few better enchanted versions of this, Anch of Blasting, Anch of Holy Word, Anch of... you get the idea...

The aura isn't meant to be felt, really. It could be, but only by those with extremely keen senses. What do you expect? The gloves are pretty strong, they are bound to give off some sort of energy.
Now in regards to the Ankh, something like that is already in the MUD, it's called a Holy Symbol. It works just like Talismans do (just for praying) .. but I have no clue why they aren't in-game.
