The least you can do is RP yourself. Stay in character, like if somebody talks in so-called Internet Shorthand, you get the chance to act confused. After all, it must be some strange accent or different language, because you certainly have never heard the word "omg" (Ahhmg?) before.
Same goes for mentioning OOC things. Like the time someone said he hated America, I just blinked and said "What's America?" When he asked me what country I was from, I said "Dustari". And finally when he said. "In REAL LIFE" I replied with "Well, this is real life, unless you know of some other." and just walked off. Left the guy pretty aggrivated, but I myself had fun with it.
And that's really all you can hope to do. Is have fun with it yourself.
