In the past people have come to you with that, but you obviously ignored them, seeing as the problem has remained.
Even so, regarding the second statement ..
.. it is entirely acceptable. If you're any kind of leader you would have responded with "That's awful, but I will go to see them, and try to end the unrest," .. not "You don't exist," followed by removal of everyone involved.
