You can't necassarily blame it on the immense map... Maybe it's all those alchemy created items that you're using that aren't even supposed to be online?
I swear, you shouldn't get the experience back, since you probably earned a great deal of it with your gloves, helmet, and armor, that aren't even supposed to be available.
