I'd just make them a little bigger (textual displays can be even more difficulty to quickly assess - humans are better at judging how long a line is than how large X is in relation to Y), but it's your call.

as for the stat window I agree there as well. I don't know what else to do with it, I was thinking make it appear only after standing still for like 5 seconds, or whenever you get a level up or something like that.

There are a number of options. I'd probably use something like a little portrait of the player which, when clicked, slides out to reveal all his stats etc. Maybe pressing a key could have the same effect, I dunno. You'd just need to experiment.

Fair enough, then. I just think that humans (or maybe just me) seem to be better at glancing to the right than the left. Most games have the major stats on the right, so maybe we've just gotten used to it. Chicken and the egg, yo.
