I believe anyone should be able to multiclass (ie buy Piety and Woodlore), but that class decisions should have a major impact. A knight that trains in piety will be a paladin, but never as good in prayers as a priest who trained in melee, and vice versa. Perhaps Knights have a naturally higher armor/HP, Barbarians the greatest strength/damage, Thieves accuracy, Priests priest-points and Wizards MP. It's mostly random now anyway, so why the hell not? Barbarians and Thieves just get "better rolls" in combat, everyone else gets "better rolls" during levelling. Chalk it up to Saving Throws. |
