Wow, isn't that convenient; I can use the SAME response twice in a row, and it is even MORE obvious that I'm right the second time around! I underlined it so you could see it more easily, because it seems to me like you have trouble reading.
As for the 'whoever' line, consider this: If two people that lived in the same house both gave me five dollars, and I knew who both of them were, and I wanted to thank them, would it be very polite to send one letter to their house saying "Thank you, whoever gave me the five dollars!" Of course not, that's rude.
